    Ruiz potentially suing the NCAA….

Exactly how I feel about Weinstein. I always thought he should have used his hideousness as a defense at the sexual assault trials. Kind of like “Look at me people of the jury. I had no choice. No one would consensually have *** with me”. Is that a defense?

No ****. So Harvey’s hideousness was compounded by his erectile dysfunction? OMG. That is a bad hand to be dealt. I don’t care how much money or power he had.

And his house. They put a bug into a lamp. It was like from a movie. FBI snuck in, drugged the dogs and gained access and planted a few bugs, house and car. Like the lamp in the Sopranos.

@Brock Berlin is correct. In Boss of bosses, from the bugging of his home it was learned that he had some artificial device/pump because he couldn’t get it up. Today it would be viagra and no one would know or care, but back then it was a big deal.

I read the book by the FBI agents who tapped Castellano’s phone; Boss of Bosses. Great read if you like this stuff, and you and @SWFLHurricane definitely do. After reading the book I felt that Corleone was loosely based on Castellano; big house in States Island, the kids, dead set against...

I love the reference. In between was Paul Castellano and we know how he was taken out. Where would he fit into your analogy of boosters and mobsters?

I appreciate this but as someone who has a BA in Poli Sci, there is nothing scientific about that degree.

UF’s journalism degree is a Bachelor of Science degree and not Bachelor of Arts? What exactly is the scientific aspect of journalism?

At the time (very recently changed) the Dept of Education, had created the Title IX rules, prevented us from cross examine the accuser. The accuser was allowed to tell their story, the accused was allowed to tell their story, and then the hearing examiner questioned the accused only about their...

Maybe I am just programmed from so many years as a lawyer, but I don’t trust anything other than the adversarial process. We all know the adversarial process is flawed, especially those of us in the system, but we also know that it is still the best system for getting as close to the truth as...

This is great work. I wish we had an emoji for that. @RVACane is there a way to tack this somewhere as a reference for the details of this investigation? If people could just refer to this post we could save a lot of time rehashing the facts.

I think that is the precise damage argument Ruiz would make. The problem may be that the athletes will continue to work with him regardless. This is a good problem in real life but an actual problem when trying to assess damages in court. Personally I don’t think the athletes will care about...

Which is why a lawsuit is needed to create a working definition of booster and NIL sponsor so that going forward there will be better guidelines than currently provided by the NC2A. We can all agree that courts aren’t good at creating this sort of definition, but the NC2A is worse, much worse...

Not like because the case was about the limit of a California law. The ruling was a decision about that specific law, and because every state that has a NIL law has different wording, the ruling would likely have been limited. But the Supreme Court opinion, and in particular Cavanaugh’s...

I liked owning my own firm but as you noted, I got lucky with 3 big cases that mushroomed into a lot of referrals. Maybe lucky is unfair to me but you will understand. 1. 2 young ladies are referred to me by a bonding company friend. The brother in law of one has a federal drug case in middle...

Same. You know Cooley grads? From Michigan? My wife is a law professor at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, a “3rd tier” law school. And yet I keep seeing billboards of her former students all over Atlanta. They had to put out a shingle but that never stopped the best of them from being...

C students make the most money right? A students go to the big firms, make a good living but limit themselves i doing so B students work for the government, make a decent living and have a good retirement plan, but limit themselves C students open their open firms because no one will hire them...

Who has the advantage in that situaiton? Is it plaintiff‘s counsel who figures the insurance defense lawyers doesn’t want to go to court due to lack of experience and fear of a jury verdict? Or is it defense counsel who figures the PL just wants a quick settlement, especially in a churn and burn...
