Imagine how many championship they could have won if they were actually playing the superstars on the bench?

They used the portal like a G5 program. Signing a bunch of former highly ranked recruits who never broke the rotation at their first school. Maybe some of them will eventually develop into the four star player they were originally supposed to be but it’s unlikely. Especially considering FSU...

They are in for a huge reality check once they realize that DJ can’t carry them like Travis did. They were not a very good rushing team last year and that was with teams respecting the passing game. Much of DJ Uklele’s success at Oregon State was predicated by the running game. They would pound...

This year’s team is light years better than the 2017 team and nobody in the ACC in 2024 is anywhere near as good as that Clemson team that crushed us in 17.

Absolutely. They purposely ran him a lot more his first few seasons because he couldn’t throw at all and his running was the only thing that could keep them in games. As his accuracy improved, they called much fewer designed runs. Most of his carries the last two seasons were scrambles on broken...

Our last quarterback almost never ran the ball yet was injured at least half of the last two seasons. I’d venture to say that a quarterback standing still in the pocket who gets crushed by a pass rusher is more likely to get hurt than a guy who is running and can protect himself. Cam Ward had...

I wasn’t saying to run Jordan Travis into the line 20 times a game like he’s Tim Tebow. Just that letting him freelance was how their offense worked best. Not everyone can or should play that way. But if scrambling and throwing on the run is what he does best, taking that away is counterproductive.

Re: running your quarterback and whether or not that’s a good coaching decision. It all comes down to what your quarterback does best. If you make someone like Jordan Travis or D’Eriq King sit in a pocket, you’re literally wasting what they do best. You’re giving your team the best chance to win...

    Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Here’s the thing, statistically FSU wasn’t even a great offense last year. The last three games without Travis definitely skew the numbers but they had a some dud offensive games even with him. 350 total yards against Boston College. 311 against Clemson and 322 against Miami. Clemson and Miami...

Remember a few years ago when Manny had the most experienced offensive line in FBS and they sucked terribly?

    Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Agreed. I just don’t see how they’re going to be able to score consistently. DJ is at best, average. Their skill talent is terrible by their standards and their offensive line is probably their weakest area.

Ukelele literally played on a national championship caliber team at Clemson and was the sole reason they weren’t in the playoff. This guys sucks so bad he made a title worthy team into just another ACC team. If he couldn’t win with that loaded team, how does FSU expect him to carry this team...

Yeah @TheOriginalCane listed our unclaimed titles. Just think, if we were like Alabama, we could say we are 10 time national champions.

Either should Alabama but they gladly proclaim to be 18 time champions. It’s quite pathetic.

UCF finished #1 in an NCAA recognized poll. Technically, by rule, they can claim a national title. It sounds ridiculous but they’re definitely not the only team who has done this. Alabama has multiple questionable claimed titles. Including one from a season where they lost three games. Miami...

Once again basing their recruiting on transfer portal rankings. It’s not just that the guys they got are unproven, every high school kid is unproven. It’s that they’ve already had a chance to prove themselves in college and haven’t.

    Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

I would argue that a team like FSU should be given a poor transfer portal grade. They took a bunch of guys who, at one time, were high level recruits. But they haven’t managed to actually play at their original schools so what does that make them? Busts. They signed half of Alabama’s third team...

They did what a lot of teams do when they hire a new coach and purged their roster. They took a ton of transfers and had some short term success but they didn’t recruit well and their long term issues eventually surfaced. I’m a fan of the portal. I want Miami to use the portal to fill spots...

    Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

This is the dark side to the “portal or bust” style of recruiting. A few years ago, there weren’t as many teams going hard after portal guys so FSU could afford to grab the best players available. Now that the rest of college football is in the portal game, the prices have gone way up. They...
