UF commit Shawn Davis reaches out to Miami

CanesInSight has learned that Miami safeties coach Ephraim Banda met with Shawn Davis all of Friday afternoon at Southridge.

Davis is a UF commit who was supposed to enroll last week, but was not able to qualify early. He reached out to Banda this week. Sources tell CanesInSight that Davis' family and DB coach believes that UF has handled the situation poorly, opening the door for the Canes. Davis is likely to take an official to Miami with his family over the next two weeks.

One more important note -- I'm told that Banda has met with administrators at Southridge about Davis' situation, as well as his aunt, who is a UM grad.

If somehow Davis enrolls a week from now at Miami we can knight Banda and Cooney on the spot .

Exactly what I wrote in the first page. The reaching out seemed to happen right around the time Cooney started working at the U. I'm real optimistic about this. If he's got half the juice Baez has with gulliver kids, we've got a good one.

I wasn't the biggest fan of him as a CB,but everyone seems to think his upside is through the roof at safety.

To be clear, I've only talked about him in the context of a Safety prospect.

Oh I know , I was just saying. When I said I didn't like him at CB I didn't know safety was his future.
Guys like this gives you options with coverages , a safety who can come down and man up.

This could be why Miami pulled Gibsons schollie and is letting him walk to Oregon.

Paris Ford is a top 10 Safety in the nation, a 4-star FS with good size & 4.5 speed...

Davis is among the best Safety's in Dade for 2017 class & is still pretty **** good as a CB too, but his upside is best at FS.

Legit 4.53 speed, natural Ballhawk who can house it (had a 98yd INT returned for a TD vs Deerfield in the playoffs), is a fairly good tackler.
