One of the biggest weaknesses on last year's Miami team was the absence of left-handed power bats. Help is on the way with the addition of 6'6, 225-pound Todd Hudson of Liberty.
Hudson, who was the top-rated OF in South Carolina out of high school, made 13 appearances as a pitcher for Liberty in 2024 while hitting 11 homers and slashing .280/.377/.586 (.963 OPS). In addition to pitching and hitting, Hudson played point guard on his high school basketball team and posted a 6.69 60-yard dash. He will hit only for the Canes and possesses significant upside with his physicality and tools.
Hudson is the 8th commitment for Miami out of the Portal, joining RHP Griffin Hugus, LHP Rob Evans, RHP Carson Fischer, RHP Reese Lumpkin, OF Bobby Marsh and OF/DH Derek Williams.
