Vernon did himself a huge dis-service leaving early. He hadn't played a complete game in 3 years of college and tested out as an average athlete. IMO he will be lucky to get drafted and with his attitude will be out of the league in 2 years top.

I think he will get drafted simply because he could be a nice fit for a lot of teams with his size/speed combo. I seriously doubt whether he ever sees the field in the NFL but I think someone will take a chance on him. He definitely did himself a dis-service, but seems like he helped us out by leaving.

Agree. Shame that he didn't feel like buying in to the hard work and development. he would have made himself a lot of $$ by staying.

yet he thinks he can hack in the nfl

lol

Also agree that he helped us out by leaving. Hurts depth, but need the negative attitudes out of here.

its absolutely addition by subtraction

his **** *** attitude would bring more negatives to the team than his play on the field would be positive......plus itll give more reps to the kids to get the experience

what dumb *** actually compared TB to DJ? smdh... I wish DJ wouldve went the pro baseball route; the eagles are f**king that boy over.

SMH. You don't know if it's addition by subtraction unless the players brought in behind him are better. LOL @ someoen thinking "U tough" is harder than an NFL workout or his preparation leading up to the draft and what not.

..........and what's all this talk about his **** poor attitude? did some of you attend classes or know the guy?

TB is straight line fast, but not nearly as quick or explosive as Jackson.

He is dumb as rocks, so that puts him on par with Jackson.

smh. jackson has better feet and cutting ability than TB. he can cut while losing very little speed while TB has to gather his feet. That's the difference. Jackson's football IQ is fine.

Agree about TB and his moves/cutting ability.

TB is more Darryl Jones while D. Jackson is more Santana Moss/Roscoe Parrish in their ability to cut/separate/and keep their speed while doing so.

I hope they make you sorry posters eat your f****** words... Its almost laughable how so many can knock a person for their decision. Stop trying to live vicariously through a **** 21 year old.

+1 Smartest post I seen in the thread, you would think that our fans would just support our boys, I guess not...you may not agree with them leaving but **** just support them, the decision has already been made, get over it.

This is a message board to discuss items related to Canes football. If people think they made a dumb decision by coming out early, this is the place to discuss it. Why is that living vicariously through them?

Come on man you guys are looking at this the wrong way... NFL scouts even questioned why some our players left early.

And performance on the field didn't equal that of kids who should enter the NFL. It's what message boards are here for, you can disagree with my posts, but not the idea that I have different feelings than you surrounding the kids that left.

this

frankly im not sure how anybody can even defend vernons decision to leave.........after last years suspension and then miserable performance once he came back........he should consider himself lucky if he even gets drafted

but.......based on 2 years ago......the kid obviously has potential......and by coming back......busting his ***.....and doing the right thing to put the past behind him....the way ray ray has........he would get drafted and would make a ****load more money

That's some real talk right there my man! That's my theory on why so many of these sorry *** dudes got a problem with you...just straight jealousy that they were never elite athletes like Benjamin or yourself.

I was disappointed that some Canes left early, and initially it looked as though their leaving would really hurt the program.

I think they were pitched a line of crap, and of course some were up to the goal, some weren't. Some made decisions that they felt at the time were good, and we'll see how that turns out for them.

In the meantime, they are Canes. Let's wish them well, let's wish they succeed in the NFL - as that too - reflects on the Canes overall.

May Golden and crew, as well as former Cane greats will be able to instill in these current young men that preparation at the U is something to be honed, refined, and built upon. That credibility is something that takes more than one year's performance.

That the NFL is a business, and when they toss a lot of money on the table, they want to feel confident in what they're investing in.

That fourth or even fifth year? Money in the bank.

More money in the bank.

TB's game doent match Jackson's... He's more of a Joey Galloway type... I think we misused him this year... He's not the type of player you'll run screen and hitch routes to... He's still a good player and will do damage in the league... As for Oliver, if his healthy improves he'll do fine... I don't see how anyone can question his attitude when the coaches praised him... I wished he would have stayed but hey... He's going to get drafted and he'll do fine as well...

I've seen Benjamin called a poor man's Jackson a few times from different draft "experts". and I can't say I disagree. the main difference between him and Jackson isn't physical. Its that Jackson plays with a chip on his shoulder and Benjamin plays as if he's happy being good. But they both can run past guys, both can make plays after the catch, both can be used as returners and both are known for not being great route runners and occasionally dropping easy passes down the field.

and yeah Vernon got praised by the current coaches heading into last year. Petri praised him year before. Two years ago he looked like the next STUD DE with a little more seasoning. Plus he can do things other guys just can't. Tossed Gabe Carimi as a freshman in that bowl game and tossed Jason Fox in the spring game. Never saw those two get tossed like rag dolls by anyone else and they went up against some of the best. Yet he did it. With how he was used after suspension I don't know if I would have come back if I was in Vernon's shoes either. It's still a wait and see thing when it comes to our current DC. Temple fans felt he was the DC cause he was Golden's college buddy. After last year I wondered if they are right. Crossing my fingers its not right.
