Thomas Brown visits top RB McFarland today

With the recruiting contact period back open, Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator and running backs coach Thomas Brown was in Maryland today stopping in on top target Anthony McFarland.

McFarland is set to announce his decision on January 25th and Mark Richt still has an in-home visit with the running back available. The only other program in the picture right now is the hometown Maryland, who just hired his high school coach Elijah Brooks on staff.

Miami has been very confident in their chances in landing the Dematha Catholic HS product and sources tell CanesInSight that Miami remains the team to beat. Maryland's hiring of Brooks was long-anticipated and is something that McFarland has been aware of for a while -- so it does not appear that will affect his decision.

Hoping that the visit went well - McFarland might end up as the instant 3rd RB on the depth chart the moment he sets foot on campus so there's a great opportunity here.

I love his film - he actually reminds me a bit of Mark Walton in his running style. Better vision and faster than Walton though. Good hands, follows blocks well, not a true burner but quick hips and definitely fast enough - the kind of kid that can rattle off 5-6 yard gains and bust a 30-40-yarder once or twice a game.

This kid is a future feature back here, IMO.

He ain't Dalvin, but he ain't Yearby either. Duke type top end, which is sorely needed.

I love his lower body (no .) Thick legs with those great choppy strides that allow him to break tackles.
