Honestly; this staff gotta learn something.....stop putting all ur eggs in to one basket. Samuel should’ve been offered from day 1. We caught a break on Joyner, but Bonitto should’ve been offered. Miami hasn’t earned that respect yet, and they need to treat it as such until we do. And we gotta stop having these long losing streaks, whether in the middle of the season or end. It’s not a good look. Imma be ****ed seeing Campbell in a different uni, but it is what it is. Better to know now, then on signing day. But we gotta stop losing out on all the top So Fla players. It irks the **** out of me seeing all these kids put on for other cities and schools.

Rattler, listen to their advice and stay away. Things will be said about TC that you don’t need to see.

Bruh I know what they'll say if he doesn't choose Miami. I'm not worried about what people say who don't Ty or me personally. I'm a ****in' CANE. I'll always be my fam's #1 supporter but MY team will ALWAYS be THE U...

Nobody should have anything bad to say about Tyson he wasn’t committed here and he didn’t disrespect the home team. It’s his decision and if he feels like Georgia is where he needs to be that’s his choice. If only every kid could handle their recruitment like he did, I’m sure there will be a few who have bad things to say and if I was you I would cuss them out lol. We know you voiced your opinion on him to come here you don’t have to voice your loyalty to Miami to a bunch of dudes. But with that being said he ain’t signed no papers yet so we gone keep working on him.

Well no matter what Rumph isn't going to get fired the day after signing day. So you're going to have to give him another year, if his recruiting hasn't improved then I could see a change being made then but no chance it happens before next season. If he does end up getting replaced, I hope we can find that elite DB recruiter and elite DB coach that everyone seems to think is just sitting at home somewhere waiting on our call.

And stop comparing the Canes to OSU, LSU, UGA, Bama etc. they have no in state competition with recruits besides bama. Those Kids come out the womb saying geux tigers or roll tide. They’re families are ride or die no matter what their record is. SFL is a different beast. Kids families are all about opportunity > loyalty. It is what it is. Richt is doing his best by getting involved with the youth programs. That and winning is the only way we keep up the fence

Losing all 3 of the CB's at the Army game would effing suck. Jobe, Surtain, and simple Jobe. We don't do very well with those kids at that game recently.

So all of us that said Campbell was not coming to Miami are vaginas trolls soft shouldered???

It is called experience and being in this game for 25 years. Easy call on Campbell.

Let’s tackle the real issue since these coaches are in a production business.

Recruiting by position

QB Very Good
RB Elite
WR Elite
TE Elite
OL Very Good Elite after 2019
DL Good but Coach is Elite
LB Very Good
DB Below average

So Richt needs to solve this problem and find himself a Dugans type to coach DBs

Accurate list except for LB. Would change to that to fair.

Been following Miami recruiting for over 20 years dating back to the Grassy days.

Just some observations:

1. The longer a SoFla recruit goes without committing to Miami, the worse the outcome generally is. Pro-Miami kids who get recruited early and aggressively by Miami generally come. It’s rare that we see otherwise. Exceptions like Sony Michel come to mind, but the statement generally holds true.

As it relates to this cycle, We probably dropped the ball on Samuels. I don’t know if we were really ever in it for Surtain or Campbell. Richt did an admirable job in year 2, our defense was the best we’ve seen in years, the program was being talked about all over the media for much of the season, and we were cool even on social media. Yet we still lost 2 great CBs.

Anytime we lose a recruit from our backyard, it’s a tough loss. I’m just not convinced it equates to termination of staff. That’s not how the real world works. What needs to happen is an investigation by Richt, Diaz, Kul, and Rumph, as to why these guys were lost. Speculation isn’t that impressive in these kinds of threads because the accuracy rate has historically been low.

2. As for Rumph, I think the jury is still out. Can he develop elite, NFL-worthy, DBs? A bit too early to tell, but the product so far has been encouraging to me. I’d much rather have elite coaches than elite recruiters. I’ve felt that way for years. If Rumph can develop guys like Frierson and Bethel, as examples, into real talents, the next batch of Surtains and Campbells are statistically more likely to come. Generally speaking, I don’t think there’s a massive difference between 4 and 5* 17-18 year old kids. Coaching, scheme, and a player’s determination to be great will factor far more heavily than just their physical tools.

3. As far as Bethel, this is a kid whose athleticism jumps out. With the proper coaching, scheme, and hustle, this kid can be great. He has the tools.

4. All in all, a couple of tough recruiting losses, but a good recruiting campaign. If we can close in on our recruits in the trenches, odds are that 3-4 years from now we’ll look back at this class as successful one.

Way too much logic for this board.

THIS IS WHY WE CANT ONLY RECRUIT SOUTH FLORIDA.

It's obvious early on which local kids want to come and which don't. We should sign mostly South Florida in the early signing period and mostly national guys during the second signing period.

Oh and Bethel is a consolation prize. Kid is a scrub.

So all the ibsiders who thought they were i siders r pretend insiders? Good ill know for next cycle who not to listen too

Nobody still knows, including Pete.

Everybody is guessing.

Campbell could end up in Alabama for all anybody knows.

We have the 2nd or 3rd best DB class. Below average is ridiculous.

sony and mckenzie go to georgia with Richt there and Rumph HC, and now this, obviously its something bigger than the people

I said it in the Juedy thread. We won’t get high profile guys from Broward until we win...and not one year I mean constantly winning. It doesn’t matter who you have I guess. This entire county is filled with front runners and until we become a consistent winner don’t expect the Tyson Campbell’s and Patrick Surtain’s to come here. Neg away, I’m sure that hurts some feelings...

agree with this, just like our last great run we wont get the last layer of stud until we win big i.e. playoff big
Nesta isn't elite?

Biggest recruiting flop and I can't see any flop in the future that can top losing him when you consider our built in advantages. How do you lose a recruit when you've known him and his family for a decade, coached him in high school, he lives locally, and has at least one family member who is a canes fan.

Can anyone give me a similar failure here or at another school? Rumph should be embarrassed. Must be a laughing stock with other db coaches at top schools. I keep saying the fact that this wasn't a layup is a problem to me. You give Bama/georgia/lsu/osu the same scenario and Campbell shuts down his recruitment and signs early. Here we have to beg and plead to get an official visit. Think about that. Rumph might not get him to do an official. Smh.

Blades would've come to Miami if Cap'n Crunch were the DBs coach.

It appears at this point that we've underperformed again.

We lost Jobe, Samuel, looks like Campbell (and Surtain). That's 2 5-stars and 2 high 4-stars.

In life you get it done, or you don't.

If you don't get it done, the reasons why don't matter.

It's not a good sign Rumph if at the end of this cycle Rumph is at least 0-4 in trying to his former CB's to play for him.

That's awful.

It's worse than that. This was our best year in a decade. We had a national ****ing craze created with the turnover chaing. THE **** TURNOVER CHAIN!! And he can't ride this momentum to close on anyone? Not even his former players? **** is worse than I even thought. We are going to go 0-4 on the top guys from South Florida and it looks like the 2 he was closest to won't even consider us for an OV.

He did close on 2 very good CB prospects. Just not his former players. Gotta stay accurate here.

Yes sir. There should be no white knighting for Rumph or anyone. Big fail. And the AH guys we have landed or will land aren't at Rumph's position.

Edwards, Henderson, Wilson, Surtain, Jobe, Samuels, Campbell....

South Florida CBs have been absolutely pillaged under Richt/Rumph.

That HAS to change for us to get where we need to be.

what a waste thinking T.C would be a Cane. Unreal how playing for the homeschool means little to nothing for so many S. Fla kids. This mentality needs to change. LSU, Ohio St., Bagama hardly ever lose top in state recruits. Culture needs to change and change NOW!

Georgia is convincing kids to stay home....somehow we cant its the staff.....ones elite at the game and ones just below elite letting the elite eat in our backyard. Until this changes ive always said we wont win a title n i atand by that.
