Jai Lucas just finished up his first year as head coach, where he led the Miami Hurricanes to the Round of 32 for the first time since 2022.

Rob Dauster, a podcaster for the Field of 68 College Basketball show, released his top five winners/losers of the spring transfer portal and named the Miami Hurricanes as a winner.

Along with the Hurricanes, he named Indiana, Louisville, Texas, and the Tennessee Volunteers as spring winners of the transfer portal. On the other hand, Rob has Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, St. Johns, LSU, San Diego State, and the Wisconsin Badgers as the losers.

Dauster has been high on Miami all offseason calling Miami a top-10/15 squad going into the 2026-27 season:

“I don’t know how you look at this team and don’t have them as a top 15, maybe even top 10 team heading into next season,” said Rob.

Jai Lucas brought in key replacements to replace the presence of Malik Reneau, Tre Donaldson, and Ernest Udeh Jr. Lucas brought in one of the best freshman point guards in the country, Acaden Lewis to replace Donaldson's presence on the court. Lucas dipped into the SEC and came out with the conference leading shot blocker, Somto Cyril. The Hurricanes staff went into the Horizon League and snagged the Conference Player of The Year, DeSean Goode, while keeping Dante Allen and Shelton Henderson. The Hurricanes staff also added a pair of backup guards (Nick Dorn, Brent Bland) to help even out the shooting.

Miami is looking to add a backup center to the roster. The Hurricanes currently have a total of 11 players on the roster. The NCAA rule suggests a total of 15 scholarship players can be on the roster, we'll see if Jai Lucas staff wants to use all 15 spots. If so, 4 more spots remain. Where do you want to see the Hurricanes head next?
