Miami is gearing up for a huge recruiting event on 305 Day (March 5th), and the board is starting to clear up. Here are some names to watch as we gear up for a big spring:

- The names to know at quarterback are Davin Davidson (Sarasota, FL), Will Mencl (Phoenix, AZ), Israel Abrams (Chicago, IL) and Neimann Lawrence (American Heritage). Davidson is visiting tomorrow, which will be a opportunity for him and the staff to get to know each other better. Lawrence is the wild card- he is a 2028 recruit who will be making a decision soon on whether to reclassify to 2027. Miami has been recruiting him since junior high school.

- At running back, RB Myson Johnson-Cook (East St. Louis, IL) is a name to watch. He is 6'2, 233 and runs a laser-timed 4.4 forty. Johnson-Cook has an official visit and two unofficial visits scheduled, including tomorrow. RB Elijah Kimble (Buffalo, NY) is another huge target. He is making the visit this week with his mother, as is Johnson-Cook. The Canes also love Honor Fa'alave Johnson (San Diego, CA) and David Gabriel Georges (Chattanooga, TN) but those feel like long shots.

- Miami loves the wide receivers they have on campus, so they will be picky out of high school. Some names Miami covets are Nick Lennear (Carol City), Kesean Bowman (Nashville, TN) and an 60m champ Carter Davis (Gulf Shores, AL).

- At tight end, DeMarcus DeRoche (Cardinal Gibbons) is committed and locked in. The Canes are pushing for Anthony Cartwright (Detroit, MI) as a legit 6'4, 240-pound body to complement leaner guys like DeRoche and Israel Briggs. Cartwright is also a three-sport athlete (football, baseball, basketball) who takes Wildcat snaps at quarterback.

- Offensive line is similar to wide receiver where we are already stacked with young talent on Greentree. They will be judicious. Mark Matthews (STA) is the most important player on the board and we are in a good spot. Jatori Williams (Phenix City, AL) is a prize on the interior. The Canes love Reis Russell (Denver, CO) at center. Sean Tatum (Fort Pierce, FL) remains a local priority and the Canes are locked with Zaquan Linton (Palm Beach Central) as a developmental prospect.

- The Canes are focused on elite players on the edge. Jaiden Bryant (Columbia, SC) might be the best player in America. He is committed to LSU but visiting the Canes on May 29th. Expect a full-court press. The Canes remain all-in on DJ Jacobs (Atlanta, GA). The staff also likes Trevoris Finley (Carol City) and 6'5, 220-pound Adriel Rojas (Atlanta).

- Miami signed five defensive tackles last cycle, so it will be important to evaluate them in person to truly understand positional need. Jalen Brewster (Dallas, TX) is an obvious stud with Miami interest and a hefty price tag. Xavier Perkins (Durham, NC) has visited Miami already and projects as a 3T. He has a lot of fans in the Hecht.

- The linebacker board remains stacked. Kaden Henderson (Tampa) visits tomorrow with family. AJ Randle (Raleigh, NC) is one of the most talented athletes in the class. The Canes remain in strong contact with JJ Mayfield (Charlotte, NC) and Noah Glover (DMV). Quinton Cypher (Raleigh, NC) is elite and Miami will keep trying to flip him from Ohio State.

- The local safety class is very good. The Canes love the progress of commit Jaylyn Jones (McArthur). Andre Hyppolite (North Miami Beach) is a priority and one of the most underrated players in America. Zayden Gamble (STA) is a high-character leader who is ready to play. In Atlanta, there continues to be strong interest from KJ Caldwell (Atlanta, GA).

- The staff would love to land a premier cornerback. They are in contact with Josh Dobson (Charlotte, NC), John Meredith III (Dallas, TX), Donte Wright (Long Beach, CA), and Gabriel Osborne (Oklahoma City, OK). One underrated name with traction: Alabama commit Nash Johnson (Atlanta, GA).

- It's very early, but some names who consistently come up from workouts are QB Dereon Coleman ("Rare arm talent"), WRs Somourian Wingo, Milan Parris and Vance Spafford, TE Gavin Mueller, OLs Jackson Cantwell, Ben Congdon and Rhys Woodrow, DT Keyshawn Stancil, DE Asharri Charles, LBs JJ Edwards and Jordan Campbell, S JJ Dunnigan (his name comes up more than anyone) and nickel Camdin Portis. Pads will tell the full story, and some players are dealing with minor injuries.

I find the omission of Jamar Thompson from D Money on both Youtube show and this Bank deeply disturbing.

Alright, time to start putting the proverbial hay in the barn after playing in the finals

Who's our next Baby Jesus? Need to keep that Freshman AA streak going.

Anyone with a brain knew JJ Dunnigan was a shoe in to play this year. Guy is a future first rounder.

Thats how I feel about Jaxon Dollar, lol.. Watch even his basketball film and was like thats a 5 star type athlete if I saw one.. Now he getting reranked by 247 and a composite 5 star..

Seriously though recruuting feels way different the past few years. Seems like we are legitimatelky stacking chips rather than filling glaring holes. Very few "project" types on the board. For nearly everyone we're competing with the likes of Ohio State, Bama, Texas, TAMU, etc. Not mid-teir ACC teams or USF. Noles and Gates are still getting some guys but it feels like we're on a completely different level from them. The table has really tilted.

Agreed. But an elite DT down here I find an even more egregious omission. DMoney and the pay sites say it is ND for Dollar. Which would suck because he is a baller. But we supposedly lead for Jamar Thompson, he is supposedly visiting, and nothing. Super weird. Did he get in trouble off the field or something, get hurt. Sketchy when it is just radio silence.

@DMoney what is Miami’s strategy for the kicker position? Are we planning on bringing in a guy out of high school or are we relying on the FSU transfer to lock down the position for the foreseeable future?

Anything on KJ Green? Sounds like we are a major player there and we know they went to visit him before dead period ended. He is another violent speed rusher with pretty **** good functional strength ala Lightfoot. @DMoney

We want Jaxon Dollar badly. He already visited unofficially. That will be a tough pull.

Jamar Thompson will be on campus tomorrow.
