Heading into Week 3, when Miami takes on the red-hot USF Bulls, the Bulls will have to deal with one of the nation’s best defensive linemen in Rueben Bain Jr., who is graded as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the Pro Football Focus player grades.

Through two games, Bain has already stacked up nine tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception with a 12-yard return. Against then-No. 6 Notre Dame, he finished with six tackles, 0.5 sacks, and a fourth-quarter interception that set up a Miami field goal to extend the lead. In the opener, Bain posted three tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.

He heads into Week 3 with a 94.6 overall defensive grade from PFF, one of the highest in the country. Last season, his 82.7 run-defense grade ranked fourth among edge rushers, and now he’s already projected as a top NFL prospect, sitting at No. 10 on PFF’s 2026 Draft Big Board.

Bain is now the second-highest graded edge rusher in the nation, just behind Tulsa's J'Dan Burnett.

At this pace, Bain isn’t just making plays for Miami; he’s making a name for himself across college football. He’s already gaining national attention, projected as the No. 2 pick in the latest 2026 NFL mock draft.
