We were never gonna learn much from this game. Next week and beyond is the real test.

did they even throw at tracy howard last night?

He was an island. The kid plays with intensity and was acting like an old school cane. He would line up with the receiver next to the FAU sideline and throw up the lockdown symbol at their sideline. It was nice to see, but obviously it was just FAU.

know it was a quick stint only, but i like how Gus looks. Dude looks like he has big play potential for someone his size, runs hard and doesn't shy from contact. Gonna be monster after a year of U tough

this is a huge opportunity for Gus. This team desperately needs a backup at RB. I am very concerned as to whether Duke can make it through a season given how competitive and aggressive he is.

I feel a tad dissapoint also.but After looking at the hiights. we dropped 3 tds. We had 500 yds of offense, and that is with the 2nd string o playing the 4 th quarter. And they score although no review.

Secondary ~ The corners played well. Highsmith was bad KC improved. Jenkins got beat deep.

LBs - played well in run support with the exception of Cornelius. He was bad. Still having issues in coverage. Look for Driskell to exploit us with the short passing game.

DL - much improved. Young guns got some pressure. Interior stuffed the run. Still had trouble consistently getting pressure without blitzing.

It makes my heart happy to see CMAR's head running around the end zone. He would have loved the **** out of that.

But if we would have given 400+ yards you would have been on here saying we haven't improved.. And that goes for alls of youz that are say "we didn't learn anything from this game".

Of course we did. We learned that given the same opponent last year, the results would have been different for the worse. So we improved in that regard. Now was yesterday's victory all telling? of course not. But just from last nights game I can tell you we are a different team, for the better.

His running jumped out at me. Looks like he has great balance sort of Duke like. For his size to have the balance is scary. He just needs to learn how to put his head down and get those tough yards that he didn't yesterday near the goal line.. But the kid looks good.

Disagree. Fau rotated 3 garbage qb's and they prolly would have ,are last years d look good. They sucked. There were some issues that look as if they could be problems down the road like s, Pierre and lb play. I'll hold judgement now until next week.

Hard to say if they're better as in 115 better or top 40 better. Not hard to be better than 116.

I wouldn't but I know who you're talking about.

I am not a football guy, but one thing I noticed is that FAU had decent team speed, especially on defense. As fast as our WR's are, there was pretty good coverage on them.

One area of concern is special teams; we had one punt blocked and several more almost blocked, and we couldnt get a decent punt return.

On the offense. Passing game in particular.
Morris was forcing the big play and wasn't really taking what the defense was giving him.
I would have liked to have seem Coley call less WR screens and work more the short middle of the field which would have opened up the deep ball later.
There are enough playmakers at WR that they can take a short to medium pass play and turn it into a big play.
Hopefully this game was a just a case of not showing much and just playing pitch and catch just cause they can do that and get away with it vs FAU.. Vs UF they won't.

And last year we made garbage QB's look like All Americans.

Right, because I said we didn't learn anything means I'm upset and didn't take away anything positive.

You're right. FAU has some decent speed that will rival what we will see next week. What they didn't have was size which we will see next week.

Really hope Coley (OC) was holding some back because it seems like we couldn't spring anyone open deep. Morris threw deep into double coverage a few times. Also, the O Line in short yardage should be blowing this people off the ball. All in all though it's just our first game, might of have been rust & nerves. Sucks, losing scott though the Gator corners like to be physical and press and Scott is easily are most physical receiver. Going to be crucial for Herb, Dorsett & Coley to get some clean releases.

gd, y'all a bunch of football analyst. Fvck it, apply for head coach guys.
