Quick Hitters (November 2nd week)

Starting this week until signing day, I will be starting a thread and posting little notes/tidbits that aren't worthy of a separate thread or article. I will be adding updates throughout the week.

**Demetrius Jackson says he is healthy again after suffering an ankle injury last month. Jackson will be in attendance for the VT game.

**Braxton Berrios has been injured nearly all season with a mid foot sprain and has been undergoing rehab. He says he is playing but is not at full strength.

**I spoke with Dennis Turner tonight who told me he will play any position Miami coaches want him to play despite there being talk that he does not want to play DB in college. Turner has played exclusively WR this season and has been extremely productive. I will post that full story tonight.

**There has been confusion regarding how many years of eligibility Michael Wyche has. I exchanged messages with the JUCO DT today who told me he has 2 years to play 2.

**Watch out for Terry McCray's commitment over the next couple months. I'm told LSU is making a strong push and he is getting pressure from Rashard Robinson's family.

Why would we not want McCray. He will easily grown into the size Golden is looking for and seems to have strong tackling skills. That is something we need a lot more of. Plus, isn't he from a HS that LSU cherry picks. Al needs to shut them out from here. You can't do that without getting kids from that school. I would not be surprise if LSU is after him just to beat Al back out of some turf they want to keep. Al is scaring these other programs about the fence going back up. They have had free hand down here for a good 10 years and are watching Al dismantle all that work.

Al's camps are aimed at kids 3 and 4 years down the road. By the time those young kids become juniors and seniors, they will only know winning football from THE U and AL. These out of town clowns will be just that--clowns. In a couple more years, it will be very hard for ANY school to take a kid from here who Al wants.

McCray hits like a truck but still JAG because of his overall athleticism

Miami doesnt have the depth at LB to not try and keep players like McCray, i like his upside.

If he ended up at LSU and balled out in 2 years everyone would be crying about how UM missed on another recruit.

Yes kids really read this boards or have friends that send them links to the board if its about them. Many recruits have confirm that but yet we still have idiots on here that will never figure that out. Oh and by the way saying someone is a JAG doesn't even equate to excuse use that it only meant he wasn't an all american. Also for the record, many kids develop into much better plays after a few yrs of S&C at a division one school, however some people here love to write kids off without really knowing much of anything about them.

Truth be told...we need to fill lots of gaps and there is a huge array of talent out there to fill in all the blanks. Thankful our recruiting staff knows a ton more than us on here.

I think the idea is that if you keep the talk strictly about football and a player's ability, then you're good. Obviously bashing a kid's character and talking trash about his family is a no-no. However, it's unrealistic to expect people to not talk football on a football board. Not every commit is a superstar. I doubt most kids would drop a school because some fans doubt their abilities. Players face that doubt on a daily basis, unless they are the elite elite who are 5 star's on every service (and even then, some people doubt their abilities -- e.g., Ermon Lane).

Point is that I wholeheartedly agree that the board should refrain from personal attacks. But the board should be free to discuss football, and a player's football ability. Keep in mind that just because a player is committed doesn't even mean that Golden loves him as a player. Could be a Plan B, C, etc. type guy. I think attacking people for questioning a player's ability is overcorrecting for the dumbasses who write stupid **** about players' characters.

So McCrays produced some very nice numbers. Was evaluated by the staff and offered pretty early in the process. Is being recruited hard by one of the best defensive teams the last decade and he's a jag because of some of our inter webs evaluators on here?
