This kid is a player no doubt. Winning and always playing tough regardless of the out come, is noticed by recruits and lends them to believe they can experience college footballs greatest games. FSU almost cherry picking now. We can reduce the numbers exiting the State of Miami if we turn our program around by getting better players and "coaches". This is like Jimbo's 3rd DC and at least 3rd OC. The staff has to improve more so than the talent! Al's got to grow up and realize that.

I listened to that interview this morning and it ****ed me off when AG was talking to Joe Rose. AG sounded upset that people were questioning the direction of this team like he just won the coastal or something…like he beat Duke this year, or didn't lay down to a bad VT team….****ed me off man. He had the nerve to have an attitude about being questioned. Dude has never won anything yet, and he acts like he should be given a pass for the product on the field. In all fairness its our DC schemes that are holding us back along with player development. But you are right Golden has to grow up and realize he needs better coaches around him. Otherwise we can have all the great recruiting classes we want, and we will still lose to Duke if we aren't developing players.

I love Powell kid is from my HS alma mater and I love that he plays with heart. I think he will succeed because his talent is undeniable, but I am just ready for this talent to turn into some form of dominance.

Uh we are over here trying to have a nice thread about a incoming talent who is a hard worker and can't wait to be in the Orange and Green. Please take your rhetoric somewhere else. Like The Al Golden press conference thread. Thanks.

btw, anyone who says he should play def. from that video, he looks way more comfortable and polished as a rb.

I feel Powell will be a difference maker next year and you will see that during the spring.

I don't see a slot WR too - it'd be a waste of his talents.

That said, Corn Elder looked this good in his highlight tape (admittedly against Tennessee kids) and he was moved to CB so who knows.

I LOVE this kid. It's always a great sign when a player can perform well at HB, FB, and WB in a wingT offense. All three positions are significantly different. You know he is a football player when he can makes plays in different roles. He's going to succeed for us, wherever he plays.

Only negative is size, which he can correct if he put a lot of focus on his diet and weight training.

Powell is one of my favorite players in this class.. The kid is a baller. Plus, he's going to look even faster when he isn't playing on that mud slop field Deerfield plays on!

Peter, Watching some Deerfield highlights, they had a safety (I think his name is Justin Morgan) that stood out to me, is he being recruited by anyone?

not alot of depth going into the spring.. no duke or yearby, powell really will be fun to follow this spring.. he will get alot of touches

I'm pretty sure Yearby said himself that he would be ready for Spring Ball

There was a lot of uncertainty around the Miami football program over the past 72 hours regarding the future of Head Coach Al Golden and his interest in Penn State. The fans weren’t the only ones in the dark about Golden’s status at Miami though, as recruits were questioning whether he would return as well. Canes commit Brandon Powell was relieved when Golden released a statement that he would return.

“Yeah, I was worried he would leave. I was just waiting until something came out, but I tried not to think about it too much. I was real excited when he said he was going to stay because I’ll be down there in school in one more day,” said Powell.

The speedster out of Deerfield Beach will arrive on campus this week as an early enrollee.

“I’ll be there on Wednesday. I’m about to start college workouts, learn the playbook, and all that. So it’s about to get real. I need to go in and work. It really hasn't hit me yet, but it will when I start packing tomorrow.”

Powell has already heard stories about the difficulty of the offseason workout plan at Miami.

“When I went there on my visit, I was with Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, and Malcolm Lewis and they were telling me about the UTough workouts and how that made them almost want to quit football. I’ve been working out with my trainer who has been pushing me since the third grade so I’ll just have to push through.”

Although Powell has the ability to play multiple positions at the next level, he projects himself as a running back.

“I see myself at running back, but I’m a very versatile player. I can line up at the slot or catch the ball out of the backfield. I see myself as a running back though, because that’s what they recruited me as and that’s what I want to play.”

Powell had an incredible season with 1339 rushing yards and 20 TDs, but for some reason seems to be a forgotten member of Miami’s class.

“It motivated me a lot. I really wasn’t paying attention about all that talk about Joseph Yearby and Dalvin Cook because even if they would have came, I would compete still. It still motivated me that people don’t think I’m one of the elite running backs around. I’m just going to go in there and work hard to show people why I’m going to the University of Miami.”

this is crazy to me...

WTF is going on with these kids?

Recruiting is relationships and visits. UF selling dreams man,

Recruiting is relationships and visits. UF selling dreams man,

Can't wait until they flop in 2014 the entire staff gets fired. Yet again, the same could be said here at Miami. I'll take Miami's direction over U***'s direction though by a longshot.

supposedly his dream school. Meanwhile, cook leaves and they offer Jeff Jones who doesn't committ so they offer powell last minute. If Powell commits he should be called "Brandon "Plan C" Powell". Florida neg recruited on this one. Muschamp is white trash and probably told him "Golden is leaving" he used the NCAA thing non-stop.

Recruiting is relationships and visits. UF selling dreams man,

Huh? How is this relationships? They just offered yesterday.

That doesn't mean the UF coaching staff does not have a relationship established with him.

It's conceivable that he was a backup plan all along, but UF was transparent with him about this, kept in communication with him in the event a backup plan became necessary and, boom, offered him when needed. Not that this is a certainty, but not impossible either. Good teams, good recruiters take this approach.

He reached out to them apparently.
