I have talked with Mike a few times now and have a pretty decent idea of his personality. I would not have asked him the commitment question if I didn't think he could handle it or it would make him feel uncomfortable. I don't think anything about his answer indicated he was put off by it and he answered it well. And yes, he could've answered it no, other guys have in the past.

He's intimated to me many times about his love for Miami and just flew 5 hours across the country to visit. I don't think asking something like that was out of line, but just my opinion.

I also did ask how his visit went, I believe that was the first real question.

I do appreciate the honest feedback.
Appreciate the interview. I just thought he was put on the spot. Good work though!!!

Nice interview. MJJ sounds like drake a little. If he comes here, who knows he might go down as G.O.D.!

I turned it off after hearing you slurp marrero and the gators...saying we love him even though he simultaneously writes for the gators. As a matter of fact, After D$ vouched, I’m pretty surprised that you would utter such garbage. I’m shocked that the keys to a Cane site would be given to someone who gives props to anything gators.

Easy to give me a thumbs down. How bout adding substance by validating Stephan’s support of merrrero of simultaneously writing for the gators. Like how he gets a coach to validate it...a coach who can’t say anything negative about the lizard school because he may have to funnel kids to that crappy program. I’d like to hear D$ defend it since he vouched for Our new site leader. D$ says and explains why it’s fine for our canes team to write for the gators and I’ll shut my mouth.

Awesome podcast I love how they straight up tell the recruits they don’t have a guaranteed spot they have to come in a complete that’s legit

Also, fortnite must be a lot like the old NCAA football games I used to buy those and skip a full week of work playing it ... Must be a pretty outstanding game

That Ladson news is awesome to hear too I now want him on the team more than ever due to how much he studies film that’s a big deal at that age ..... The Nkosi comment is awesome as well .... We all knew he was the real deal though

Lol I guess you didn’t read the original thread on this. D$ is the one that kept him on and it was a unilateral decision. I had no say in it, wasn’t asked and didn’t expect to be. I didn’t bring Erick on and he was here before I got here so it wasn’t my place.

Personally, I wouldn’t write for UF because the reason I even got into this in the first place was my passion for the Canes. My advice to Erick when we talked was he should choose one or the other, because it’ll be tough for either fanbase to truly accept him. But if D$ doesn’t think it’ll ultimately hurt the site, then I trust his judgement. I can use the help.

Never said anything about the Gators, positive or negative. Just congratulating a colleague for a new opportunity. Also noticed you convieniently left out how I was teasing him about it on the podcast. I guess your hate for Erick is blinding you

Too much talking by Stefan. I was getting annoyed at how he kept cutting off the interviewee. Otherwise, I enjoyed the content.

I appreciate the tip, a few have told me this. I try to keep it more like a conversation rather than a true interview/monologue, but I do overdo it sometimes and jump in too quickly. Only my 3rd podcast, so still learning as I go. Thanks for listening

I feel you. I did like the conversational vibe. Like anything in life, the key is finding a balance. Stay on you grind, bro.

Don’t hate him, don’t know him personally... just don’t respect him as a Cane fan...I do hate the gators though as a program and institution. Your entitled to your opinion, in loving him even though he writes for both. I believe I’m entitled to mine that’s its sacrilege. I’m pretty surprised D$ is fine with it, but trust that is accurate. given the confidentiality/trust given to your staff by Richt...hope marrero isn’t given access to closed practices etc. I won’t say anymore, appreciate you discussing our differing opinions

The first part was a tough listen. Try not to read a pre-written monologue, but work off a bullet-pointed outline. You were waaaayyy too monotone. I ended up not hearing anything you were saying because it all sounded the same. It’s a podcast, you get as many takes as you want, you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything. Even if you do, you can splice it in.

Thanks for the podcast. Keep it real, but turn up the energy a little. Haven’t finished the coach interview yet or touched the MJJ interview, but your interview is way stronger than your monologue. Try to get them to sound more similar. Think of the monologue like a conversation with the listener.

Thanks again man, appreciate you.

Haha I actually agree with you on this, luckily it was only 5 minutes of 45. I stand behind the analysis but you’re right, it’s almost as much about delivery as the content.

Part of the issue was it took me literal hours to get and edit the interviews because I was having problems with the mic, so I was trying to get the opener all in one take and be done with it. I actually had mainly bullet points, but they were probably too detailed. It does sound better when you go off the top and like you said, you can edit it later if needed.

“Think of the monologue as a conversation with the listener.”

I like this. Gonna keep that in mind for next time. Appreciate the feedback

I personally like getting information from sources who aren't tied to one school as I think leads to more honest assessments. It's nice to have the D$s of the world who are connected and beat the Canes drum full time, but it is also nice to balance that with someone like Erick who may be able to keep a more even keel when reporting on a recruit.

I enjoyed and respect your interview. I just didn't think MJJ would give an honest answer being put on the spot or at least it left me wondering if he was just telling us what we wanted to hear at that moment. Your response that you had communicated with him several times does give clarity to the interview questions.

Thanks.(y)

Getting the Johnson interview is a big deal, I think. This is where this site distinguishes itself from the mainstream reporters.

I’m not a journalism editor, but I thought the questions were fine. When you can’t see faces and body language it’s hard to tell if a question seems right or wrong by just listening, at least to me.

The big takeaway to me was his timeline for committing. That’s huge. It’s what you would normally expect from a QB and I’m glad he’s going to get this done no later than summmer/fall.
Yeah him saying he'd definitely like to be committed by June or pre-summer whatever it was exactly is HUGE. The earlier he commits the better. Either he'll pick us and we got our top guy, or he'll pick someone else and we'll have half a year to flip/land the guy next on our list.

MJJ is a very articulate young man. Seems very intelligent, this bodes well for us. He will make the right decision, just doing his due diligence.
