2015 Royal Palm Beach (Fla.) linebacker Charles Perry committed to the University of Miami prior to the beginning of his junior season. Rarely in todays era of recruiting do you see commitments like that last, but Perry kept his word and is ready to wear orange and green on Saturdays.
“I was committed for a long time and I told myself if I ever had a chance to go to my dream school I would and I stayed to that. I never de-committed and now in a couple days I start that dream.”
Fans on twitter have been applauding Perry’s loyalty even with the Hurricane poor record in 2014 and he promises to show them his best.
“These true Miami fans; they’ve been with me and I’ve been with them. They’re gonna be watching me on TV and I’m gonna be playing my heart out and they should be expecting to see a show every Saturday night. They’re gonna expect that and I’m gonna give them one.”
Perry enrolls to the University of Miami on Monday and is also very eager to get his hands on the playbook early as well as some working with linebackers coach Hurlie Brown.
“I got a jump on a lot of people, especially people coming in the summer. It’s a good thing during the spring working with Hurlie (Brown). We talk on the phone a lot and our relationship is great so for him to coach me is going to be a great opportunity.”
Perry is very confident that if he can learnt the playbook quick enough he can see the field early similar to Trent Harris and Darrion Owens have.
“If I learn the playbook there is no doubt I can see the field early. I gotta do my part before they can trust me.”
The 6’2 215 pound outside linebacker finished his senior season at Royal Palm Beach and while it didn’t end in the fashion many would like, he definitely enjoyed it and made it memorable.
“I’m going to remember a lot about them. We had a long, tough season, but we finished with one of the best season Royal Palm Beach has ever had. The second team to win district, so it was awesome and a great program. Royal Palm Beach was home to me.”
