Honestly feels more even than meets the eye. I’m not as confident as a lot of people but that’s mostly because I’m trying stay level headed since I was really wrong about LSU last year. Could see this coming down to special teams to win the game.

I noticed in the Michigan game Dan Mullen had almost all his passes be quick timing routes which helps neutralize the edge rush. I expect both Enos and Mullen to do the same this Saturday and also explains why we are keeping our more talented linemen on the interior instead of bumping one out to tackle.

This observation is on the money. Mullen will quick screen, quick slant, draw, qb draw, option us to death. He’s going to try and neutralize our rush.

Our ends have to get their hands up and bat down passes. But Franks is 6-6. Gonna need Rouseau’s length this game.

I’m not as confident either. I don’t expect to win this game. New HC, new Offensive system, new OL, new QB. Those recipes for disaster. Still, having said all that, this has upset written all over it.

Sorry, Lance, I just could not read this. I am sure this was up to your usual superb quality, but I CANNOT tolerate seeing or reading that much about gator unless it is details of us crushing them one more time. I look forward to anything you write post game after we skin they swamp slime.

I felt icky listening to their spring game slurp fest and had to turn it off.

I get it. Let’s hope for a much more fun Upon Further Review victory post.

Sub lame duck HC for new head coach and those were the same things giving us confidence about LSU last year. Quite frankly they bullied our O and took the pressure off their O. That’s our recipe for success.

I get your point but I’m not certain it will apply for Saturday. If this game were in November then I’d agree. Game 1? Not buying just yet.

I was overconfident last year, mainly because of LSU's QB. I didn't think the offense was going to be as bad as it was. I also didn't count on such terrible punting putting them on a short field over and over. Overall, I don't think the defense played that badly. The offense just had no answers and the ST's compounded it.

I think we were all way to confident last year with that LSU game. That said, LSU turned out to be a lot better then everyone in the nation expected. They snuck up on a lot of teams. People were writing Orgerons coaching obituary because he was done as a HC. Gotta hand it to him, he coached his a$$ off last season.

UF isnt sneaking up on anyone. They were a 10 win team last year and stomped Michigan in the bowl game. We know exactly what is coming AND this is an in-state rivalry game. And the core of our team has been here before. There wont be any "deer in headlight" moments from anyone on Saturday. Even Jarren. He knows this is his chance to prove to the fanbase and his HC/OC that they made the right choice. He screws up and the whispers will start immediately that maybe they made the wrong choice.

And the one thing we can definitely count on and can never be understated is the fact that this defense will show up on Saturday. (Just like LSUs did last year against us) They will not fail us.

I’m with you. We‘re all still in “gotta see it to believe it” mode. Rightfully so.

Not really, no. That team relied a lot more on superior OL play.

Florida relies on putting your defense in a numbers crunch and misdirection. A big key with them is their slot WR blocks like a TE, but also has the speed to stress your defense in the seam. When you bring an extra defender into the box to balance the numbers with the QB run game they send the slot deep in the seam to stress you.

With lots of time to prepare, Florida will throw some wrinkles into their game plan.
Football season is finally back. Thank you, Lance.

I'm not confident, but I am optimistic. First year coach with a completely new offensive staff in the first game of the year. We have no reason to expect a win. However, win or lose, my biggest expectation is to see my team fight for the full 60 minutes on both sides of the ball. That was missing after the 2017 Pitt game. All the concerns aside, I like our chances.

The only thing I'm worried about on defense is our DBs vs there WRs. I think UM's DBs are good, but I'm not 100% certain that they will be able to give them tons of problems like I am certain that UM's DL will give the gaytor's OL problems.

@Lance Roffers

we gonna be getting a defensive breakdown? I'm sick of hearing David Lake spout off about how wonderful Florida's crippled defense is going to be this season and how it will be the best we see all year. Hoping you're sifting through the film and coming to a far different conclusion.

The narrative of the LSU game getting away from us because LSU dominated our offensive line is false.

Watch the the link above. Malik had good protection and we ran the ball on them.

Oline ain’t the reason we were down 24 in the first half.

It was physically pretty even until the bonehead coaching and **** execution took all the wind out of our sails.

We fell behind because:

1. Richt had a bad gameplan that didn’t stress or confuse the defense enough and relied on Malik hitting downfield passes early in the game (which he almost never did in any game.) Malik killed drives throwing long low percentage passes before he was hot and needed acrobatic catches just to get early completions.

2. Feagles was TERRIBLE and constantly gave them short fields.

3. Dean was TERRIBLE. Young’s injury and Bandy’s bullshyt ejection cost us DEARLY. Dean gave up a busted coverage first down on 3rd and 9 that got the first field goal. How do you blow man 2? Watch that drive. He got toasted and abused on the second td after a Feagles shank.

3. Manny with that TERRIBLE safety blitz to the boundary on 2nd&15. WHYYYYY?????? They were behind the chains and we were getting after them. That call was reckless and stupid.

4. Aranda called a PERFECTLY executed corner blitz to Malik’s blind side and Homer missed the pickup and Malik rushed a bad throw for the pick 6. Play call was bland and LSU was sitting on the routes. Malik should have ate the sack but his and Homer’s mistake happen when the defense makes a great call.

People cherry pick the bad plays by the oline, but our d line got after them too. They took emotional control well before they took actual physical control.

With Richt, Rosier, Feagles, Dean, and to a much lesser extent, Manny, ****ing a winnable game away, LSU started to lean on a demoralized Miami team that kept shooting themselves in the foot.

All that is to say, THIS GAME IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM LSU 2018.

COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

So stop moping and expecting defeat. We were right to be confident last year and right to be confident this year.

Coaches come in with a smart and aggressive, but not reckless, game plan, and we will have a lot to celebrate.

Scoring will probably start slow, but pick up as Jarren settles down. The defense will eat more Franks than a Kobayashi. 8/24 will be the worst day of his life.

Have you forgotten that we DOMINATE running qbs? The only thing we can’t do is leave receivers open for short, quick passes and let Franks feel comfortable blitzing gratuitously for no good reason.

WE WILL DOMINATE THEIR WEAK *** OFFENSE. Just need Jarren to play well. We will run for over 175 yards combined.

Canes 34-13 because of Jarren getting a rhythm, good run game, pick 6, and some strong special teams returns.

No need to mope.
