Jai Lucas and the Miami Hurricanes basketball squad are preparing for the 2026-27 college basketball season as they get set to take on Todd Golden and the preseason No. 1-ranked Florida Gators.
Lucas led the Hurricanes to a 26-9 record in his first season as head coach. He also led the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to the Purdue Boilermakers.
On the other side, Todd Golden led his Gators team to a 27-8 overall record and 16-2 in the SEC. They retained center Rueben Chinyelu, forward Alex Congdon, forward Thomas Haugh, and point guard Boogie Fland, while also adding Kentucky point guard transfer Denzel Aberdeen, who served as the backup sixth man on the 2024–25 national championship team.
FanDuel released its odds for Monday's game, and the Hurricanes are the underdogs. The Gators are 5.5-point favorites over the Hurricanes, with the over/under set at 159.5 and the moneyline set at -220 for Florida and +180 for Miami.
Last season, the Hurricanes were 19-16 against the spread, while the Gators also finished 19-16 against the spread. Both teams will have plenty to prove this upcoming Monday, and it cannot get here soon enough. We are now less than 48 hours away from tipoff in Tampa.
Go Canes.
