Twenty-two games are in the books, and there isn’t much runway left. With February rolling in, Miami basketball is officially living life on the bubble, and it’s getting uncomfortable.
The Hurricanes are still projected to make the NCAA Tournament for now, but Saturday’s loss didn’t help anything. If we’re being honest, it probably pushed Miami right onto the edge. Joe Lunardi hasn’t updated his bracketology yet, but heading into the day, Miami was listed among the First Four In while California sat in the First Four Out. After losing to the Golden Bears, it’s hard not to think the Canes could be the ones sliding out when the update drops. That’s a scary place to be, especially with conference play heating up.
And the road ahead isn’t friendly. Miami still has to deal with SMU, Louisville, and North Carolina. Even Boston College is not easy, and they haven’t been a pushover lately, they had Notre Dame on the ropes before a late collapse and gave Virginia a real scare.
Miami has to get something going, and fast. There’s still time to turn this around, but the margin for error is getting smaller by the day.
Here is the team sheet as of January 31, 2026.
