I saw nothing on the defensive line last year to suggest we’ll be ok there. And the linebacker group is thin and underwhelming on paper. On offense, hard to replace those receivers without a drop off. And across the roster, it doesn’t appear we have any elite players outside o line. Should be in contention for ACC, but we’re still miles away from the tier 1 schools in terms of talent and depth imo.
So tell me how many schools have a better EDGE and overall DLine room than us, when exclusively viewing it from a PROVEN standpoint since yall give absolutely zero credence to us having Four 5 star Lineman in line to earn PT along with 3 other proven starters….

It’s not hopes and dreams. It’s just CFB and basic development. Blay is good, that’s a fact, Moten is good as well, Justin Scott is a better DT than Mesidor, who only played DT last year due to necessity, now that’s worst. The depth was so bad last year Mesidor, a DE had to play DT out of necessity. Now he doesn’t have to play it primarily and yall still complain about the depth. Dt last year, Barrow, Moten, Mesidor, whose not a natural DT, backups Campbell, Clark, and Cook . Dt this year Blay, Moten, Scott, backups Jones and Simpson. Obviously 1 more depth piece would be good, but if that’s what’s keeping u pessimistic idk wat to say. DE there’s another development year for Blount, Lightfoot, Malik Bryant, brought in Hayden Lowe and still have Bain and Mesidor. I don’t know what makes you worried about that.
Dude doesn’t believe players get better. Teams just don’t have proven players at every position every year it’s cfb. Oregon, osu, bama, uga and etc all have questions at several positions

Because people are going by what’s being said about Scott from people who seen him this spring and what hetherman said about him. If he lives up to that the d-line will be better by default. On top of getting a healthy Bain back. Messidor playing his natural position. And if guys like Blount who was said to be disruptive all spring translate that to Saturday it should no doubt be better. And that with an attacking scheme not twist and stunts. Got 4 5 stars and a top 5 portal DT on the d-line why wouldn’t it be better
Our starting dtackles at UF last year were barrow and mesidor. At Syracuse it was Moten and Clark. If Scott makes a jump and the size of Blay I think we could end up being better there.

add texas, osu, oregon DT stats too but people act like it’s just miami. Blay stats last year better than all theirs
I literally posted Ohio Sts starting DTs stats. And previously I have posted their starting EDGEs stats lol. My issue isn’t even saying our guys have to massively step up from what they showed last year. That’s obvious. My issue is acting like the DLine room has no talent lol. Like just say you don’t think the coaches are going to get them to perform. Simple as that. But to question the talent in our EDGE room is straight ludicrous. If you’re going to question our EDGE talent why even say any unit on any team is good? Just makes no sense. And how much people downplay Bain is just straight absurd. If Bain was on literally any other team people would be saying “yeah we have some unproven talent but we don’t have a Bain level player”…

Another tiring point. Was the stunting a problem in 23’? Outside of Bain, none of our DL room start in most top tier programs.
We did not stunt as much as we did in 3 as we did in 24. its not even close

That's because the back end of the defense was so abhorrently terrible, which is what I've said... about 3500 times by this point.

Hard to evaluate a D-Line getting pass rush with a DC dropping an EDGE every third play and leaving the MOF wide open, whilst your secondary can't communicate and pass off motion and crossing routes.

But I forgot where I'm at for a second, nuance and context isn't necessarily the strong suit.

I don’t know why some people here are so down on our D-Line. I happen to think we are going to have a very good D-Line this upcoming season. Certainly good enough to dominate and be considered in the top 15 or so in the country. When I look at last season, I think people don’t put nearly enough emphasis on how awful our D-Coordinator was. He was stuntin’ like crazy, our guys were constantly out of position, nobody setting the edge properly, poor communication, etc. The D was an absolute mess under Guidry and I’m so glad he’s gone. I expect everyone on that D-Line to perform much better under Hetherman.

I expect a complete turn around to a unit we can’t rely on for many key stops and get off the field , the less game reps the more wins .

Saban said something on Gameday that stuck with me: (something along the lines of) "your defensive back play sets the floor of your defense". Elite passrushers and special DTs elevate the great teams, but any team without solid play in the defensive backfield is going to look mediocre.

People are analyzing Bains tape rn because he's a prospect for next years draft.

Some of the snaps vs Louisville, he can't beat his blocker any faster. Completely impossible. But someone's butt naked in the secondary, so he can't get there in time.

People here are allowed to feel how they like. I’m just a tad skeptical and have no idea what to expect at a few spots. Last year I was pretty confident everywhere minus cb. If Beck is fully back from injury and adapts well to this offense he should have a good year. But even that isn’t a sure thing. There’s a lot of unknowns.
8-4 doubt we’re deep enough to handle 7 straight

This is true. The front 7 last season with a slowed down Bain wasn’t bad at all. The secondary just kept getting gashed.
