Miami Place Four on All-ACC Second Team, Alvarez Named All-Freshman

Five Miami Hurricanes earned recognition from the ACC on Monday as Alex Sosa, Daniel Cuvet, Derek Williams and Rob Evans were named to the All-ACC Second Team, while Alonzo Alvarez earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors.

Williams turned in one of the top offensive seasons in the conference, batting .389 with 15 home runs, 66 RBI and 74 hits across 53 starts during the regular season. The outfielder also recorded a .705 slugging percentage and 1.180 OPS entering postseason play.

Sosa earned All-ACC honors after making an immediate impact in his first season at Miami following his transfer from NC State. The junior catcher finished the regular season batting .335 with 16 home runs, 64 RBI, 57 runs scored and a 1.118 OPS over 53 games.

Despite appearing in just 41 games, Cuvet remained one of the most productive hitters in the ACC, batting .305 with 12 home runs, 45 RBI and 14 doubles during the regular season. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native also posted a 1.086 OPS while helping anchor the Hurricanes lineup.

Evans emerged as one of the ACC’s top starting pitchers during his second season in Coral Gables. The left-hander finished the regular season with a 9-3 record, 3.21 ERA and 88 strikeouts across 75 2/3 innings pitched while making 13 starts for the Hurricanes.

Alvarez earned ACC All-Freshman Team recognition after a strong debut season for Miami. The freshman catcher/designated hitter notched a .301 average with 11 doubles, four home runs and 26 RBI across 45 appearances during the regular season.

Miami opens play in the 2026 ACC Baseball Championship on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Stanford and California at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.
