Jordan and Delaney...
"this is from a close friend, he believes Dee Delaney will commit this weekend. Either while on campus or within 24 hours after. Says the only reason he hasn't already is he's never been on campus. And that Brevin Jordan is a silent to Miami. Just a couple of things he mentioned while we were having dinner yesterday, leads me to believe what he is saying is true. FWIW"...

This is fantastic news. Delaney can play and can bring some added experience and leadership to the DB room... GoCanes!

Wow you are a prophet. No one else saw Delaney coming. Pete hire this man.
LOL at that dude trying to transition from provocative pube-talking hot chick to insider by patting himself on his hairy back for predicting Delaney to UM when Pete told us about how close we were with Delaney three weeks ago.

I hate speaking in absolutes but this dude is an NFL caliber CB. Absolutely huge get

Island_Canes claims to be a chick. We're not sure what he/she/it is.

This pickup is right up there with Navaughn Donaldson. Absolutely huge.
For this season it's bigger.
Agreed. Wrote this on the main board:

This one addition changes the dynamic of the entire defensive backfield. We're in serious business now if we can find a reliable second Safety. This move gives us more options to throw at that vulnerability.

Early projection:

CB Young/Dean
FS Jaquan/[URL="https://www.canesinsight.com/player/353/michael

Bandy is a baller he needs to be on the field . The kid makes plays and will come and lay the wood. I don't care if you put him at a floater on the field he needs to be on the field moist of the time. Go back and watch his film complete monster

Early projection:

CB Young/Dean
FS Jaquan/Michael Jackson/Jeff James
SS Finley/Carter
CB Delaney/Redwine/Mayes
Nickel Jaquan/Bandy

Things to consider:

- I think these top 4 of 5 in the Nickel package are highly likely for the early part of the season: Young, Delaney, Dean, Jaquan.
- How Michael Jackson transitions to Safety is an enormous variable in our DB equation. If he can show out, it makes us more flexible to allow Jaquan to play a utility role.
- If someone can step into the Safety role and provide some of what Jamal Carter served last year, Jaquan can play Nickel and Bandy won't have to be rushed.
- Jackson, Finley and Carter will now be in a death battle for PT. We will see the benefits of intense competition.
- I'd still see where Deejay Dallas fits as a DB after his look at WR this spring. Not saying he can't contribute at WR - the opposite really. Just really intrigued how his skill set transfers over to DB. We'll see if he gets a look. It's now more of a luxury.

I'm freakin' pumped.

As it relates to recruiting, I'd add I love the class separation this provides between Delaney and Dean with the incoming star recruits.

Me personally i would rather have delaney and dean outside and kick young inside. And keep jaquan at safety. He was solid last year at nickel but i would rather have the athleticism young and bandy can bring to there.
Could play out that way for sure. All I know right now is I've seen Young play the ball in the air much better than I anticipated, so despite being 5' 9" or 5' 10", he works decently well on the outside. As for Dean, the only things I really know about him are he has good length, is 'sticky' and has great feet. Those are awesome traits on inside routes. But, we'll see how it plays out between those 3, Redwine and Bandy (who I expect to make a serious charge for the Nickel spot). Either way, much better top 5 at corner.

Don't need to go back and watch his film. I have him fighting for that Nickel/utility spot as a true freshman. I expect him to make a charge for it and almost immediately get himself on the field. I don't think anything I said indicated I don't think he is a player. If he can do provide 75-80% of what Jaquan provided in the Nickel/utility role, it gives our defense incredible flexibility.

I'm sure he starts from day 1 barring any injury...Huge get for our young ones as they will have more time to absorb the DB positions..

"But I promise you, nobody worked harder than I did! You know why,.. because I was scared. I WAS SCARED OF EDDIE BROWN AND STANLEY SHAKESPEARE,.. THE RECEIVERS, THAT CAME BEFORE ME, SAYIN', I DIDNT CARRY THAT S***!! THAT THEY GAVE ME!!!"
-The Playmaker-

I keep forgetting we brought in Johnvonte Dean at CB too. I'd bet Bandy gets a long look at CB too. We'll be fine at CB this year, but will have an infusion of talented DB's for 2018.

This addition alone might add to our win column next year. Huge get. :duke-uni2:

Anyone know of any Safety grad transfers we may be looking at?
