Miami MBB beat at home by California, 86-85

On Saturday afternoon in the Watsco Center, Miami men’s basketball (17-5; 6-3 ACC) was punked by the California Golden Bears (16-6; 4-5 ACC), 86-85, with it being one of the demoralizing losses of the season for the Hurricanes. This defeat came shortly after the ‘Canes two game win streak versus the Syracuse Orange and the Stanford Cardinals.

For the game, Miami shot a good 57 percent overall from the field and 4-12 from long range. Meanwhile, California connected on 49 percent of its looks and 10-23 from beyond the arc. UM registered just 14 assists on the afternoon. Miami went 23-33 from the free throw line while California finished 24-32.

Malik Reneau was the Hurricanes leading scorer, totaling 24 points and six rebounds on 5-11 shooting while Shelton Henderson added 16 points and five rebounds. Tre Donaldson posted 14 points and five rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
