Miami Hurricanes land ELITE 2027 LB AJ Randle

Corey Hetherman has his linebacker for the 2027 class, securing the commitment of four-star AJ Randle.

A 6-foot-3, 215-pound overhang linebacker from Garner, N.C., Randle brings immense athletic upside.

He’s a modern linebacker in the do-it-all type mold, always with a nose for the ball anywhere on the field.

Randle does this with elite speed at the position, with a legit track background as the state champion in the 300m hurdles. Moreover, the North Carolina native comes from a track family as his mother was a five time All-American at Clemson.

For his high school side, Randle played on both sides of the ball, ranging from quarterback and receiver to linebacker, demonstrating a real feel for the game across the board.

He was credited with 84 tackles and three forced fumbles on the year, while offensively scoring six touchdowns while on double duty.

Randle has consistently risen up the rankings over the past few updates, highlighting the staff’s ability to evaluate and make an impression early. Adding on weight will only make his athleticism even more noticeable, pairing his range with power at the next level.

He chose the Hurricanes over the likes of Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Randle becomes Miami’s first “true” linebacker of the 2027 class with recent commit Jayvon Dawson’s position to be determined between linebacker and defensive edge at the next level.

The Hurricanes are now up to 15 commitments this cycle, and in the top-5 nationally for the 2027 class.

Miami will continue to search for another linebacker in the class, ranging from options such as Kaden Henderson, Noah Glover and Jalaythan Mayfield, as well as keeping the board open for risers this offseason.

Actually, mopes can have their purpose. We should salute all the mopes who bemoaned the Coker era Canes and the Shannon era Canes and the…etc, etc.
They were depressing and annoying but they were proven correct.
Now we’re in a blessedly different time…

The problem with the mopes is they have a poor perspective on recruiting. When we don't get a couple guys we're after, they turn into hysterical ******* - eg "we're losing everyone", "we must not have enough money" etc.

That's not how recruiting works. Every team misses guys they go after. I remember the mopes panicking in 2024 class when we missed on several DL targets. But we ended up bringing in an excellent group of DL that year.

It's who you get that counts, not who (or how many) you miss on.

Not to politicize this thread, but that is in many cases a byproduct of growing up in a 2-parent household.

In the NIL era, it is extremely vital that this program performs its due diligence by recruiting players that are intrinsically motivated & have strong intangibles. Otherwise, the program will end up squandering resources on players who will never amount to anything. And even if they don't completely bust, they will end up being cancers in the locker room.

I think that is sound reasoning. Plus once the culture is strong and prevalent throughout the locker room you can then take a chance on a Jeff Thomas…
