As Jai Lucas and the Miami Hurricanes basketball squad continue to prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 college basketball season, CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein released his top-five ACC players to breakout this season.
Rothstein named Hurricanes rising sophomore guard Dante Allen to breakout. Last season, Allen carved out solid minutes for the Hurricanes, starting in 18 out of 30 games. He took over the starting shooting guard role from Tru Washington, proving that he could be a huge priority in Jai Lucas's scheme.
Allen did a lot of the dirty work for the Hurricanes, which is what separated Allen from the rest. He averaged a total of 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. He shot an efficient 43.1 percent from the floor and 32.1 percent from behind the arc.
Allen's best outing came against California, when he put up solid numbers: 12 points, three assists, and five rebounds, while shooting 4-7 from the field, and 2-3 from behind the arc.
This off-season Miami reloaded their backcourt in the portal, adding Brent Bland (St. Peter's) , Nick Dorn (Indiana), and Acaden Lewis (Villanova). Allen is expected to step up into shooting guard role. Will this be his breakout season? Let us know down below.
