Miami Fined $50,000 for Storming the Court Following North Carolina Win

College basketball is sending a bill to the ACC league office after Miami’s electric Tuesday night at the Watsco Center, and it’s a $50,000 one.

The Hurricanes were fined after fans stormed the court following Miami’s 75–66 win over No. 11 North Carolina. Money well spent.

It marks the first time the University of Miami has violated the league’s policy regarding fans entering the court of play. Still, that didn’t stop the celebration. Many of the 7,355 fans in attendance rushed the floor, turning Watsco into a full-blown party scene, memorable, loud, and also costly.

Miami now has just three home games remaining this season, with No. 24 Louisville set to visit on Senior Night.

The Watsco Center was packed with people, ranging from Peter Ariz to Miami football players. It was an unforgettable night in the Sunshine State.

I know it’s been A tough couple of years for us but given that we were a final 4 team just 3 years ago…. Who has routinely beaten UNC over last decade plus…. I was pretty disappointed in the court storming

meh you have to think of the audience man, its a bunch of college kids who at MOST have been there 4 years and a lot just want to storm the court not so much that they think it is some huge, program changing win. Its part of the game at this point, is what it is.

I wonder who the first sport or team was where the crowd rushed the field or court after a big upset win? I also think I saw something maybe in a different league that they have to wait like 3 minutes to storm, the school would put a timer on the jumbotron and was like yall can rush, but you have to wait those minutes so the other team can get off.

My only issue is what @AllAboutTheU noted. We were recently very good, and we are good again this year. We should expect to at least be very competitive in these games.

But I do understand that UNC is a traditional basketball power, and beating them is like beating UM in football. And even when we were not great, opposing fans often stormed the field after beating us.
