New Miami Hurricanes defensive tackle transfer Jarquez Carter spoke with the media father Tuesday's No. 9 practice.

Here is everything he had to say about adjusting to the Miami life, on what its been like working with the defensive line, and more:

Q: How has Miami treated you so far?

Everything has been great. Adjusting, it's been great. I'm from down here, so the heat is not a problem to me.

So what made you go north, initially, and then now come back?

I just felt like coming out of high school, that was a school for me. I felt like I talked with my family, and that's the school I wanted to go to. But when I got in the portal, I kinda already had a feeling where I wanted to go.

Q: You were in high school with Mycah, right? Just, what was that relationship like and what's it like having him as a teammate again?

Me and Mycah, we're close friends. Me and Mycah kind of did everything together. That was like one of my best friends. So being around him kind of helped me adjust to the school. It's a great feeling.

Q: On the defensive tackle group:

I feel like we have a great group. Everybody plays a part. Everybody’s been doing great in spring ball, so I feel like we have a great group.

Q: On what it’s been like working with Miami’s defensive line:

[Damione Lewis] and Jason Taylor, they’re using me in great ways. We rotate a lot. We play a lot of defensive linemen, so whatever they need from me, I’m there.

Q: Is there something in particular, is there a game that you're trying to improve on this spring, this summer, to be ready for next year?

Just attacking. Up front, we like attacking, we like going straight, getting vertical, and just applying pressure on the backfield, so attacking.

Q: Is there a difference between Ohio State and Miami for you?

Just the city, the heat, definitely. Yeah, those are the two main factors.

Q: How about on the football field? Is there a difference between the two programs?

I wouldn't say really, it's just different schemes, that's really it. But pretty much the same thing, football, just attacking on scrimmage.
