The University of Miami baseball team continues its steady climb in the national rankings following a record-setting offensive start to the 2026 season, as the Hurricanes prepare for a midweek road contest at FAU.
Miami jumped six spots to No. 17 in the latest D1Baseball.com Top 25. The Hurricanes also moved up five positions to No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and climbed one spot to No. 21 in the Perfect Game rankings, while holding at No. 22 in Baseball America’s national poll.
Through nine games, Miami stands at 9-0 overall and is batting .379 as a team with 144 runs scored, 125 hits and 27 home runs. The Hurricanes carry a .739 slugging percentage and a .499 on-base percentage into the week.
During opening weekend against Lehigh, Miami scored 57 runs in a three-game sweep, the most runs in an opening series in program history.
That offensive surge included a record-setting fifth inning in the series finale against Lafayette, when the Hurricanes launched five home runs to establish a new school mark for most homers in a single inning. The previous record of four had stood since April 8, 1984 against Alabama.
Individually, freshman catcher Alonzo Alvarez is batting .588 with 10 hits, eight extra-base hits and a 1.412 slugging percentage in seven appearances. Senior outfielder Derek Williams is hitting .571 with four home runs, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored, totaling 33 bases. NC State transfer Alex Sosa leads the team with five home runs and 17 RBI while batting .382, and Daniel Cuvet has added five home runs and 13 RBI.
Freshman Dylan Dubovik has emerged as one of Miami’s hottest hitters and one of the most productive bats in the country, batting .846 with 11 hits in 13 at-bats, including three home runs and 11 RBI.
Miami will travel to Boca Raton on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup against FAU before returning home for a marquee weekend series against No. 10 Florida at Mark Light Field. Freshman right-hander Sebastian Santos-Olson will get the start for the Hurricanes opposite to FAU left-hander Kide Adetuyi.
The all-time series between the Hurricanes and Gators is tied at 136-136-1. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
