We are a little over 100 days away from college football starting back up in the Sunshine State. The 2025-26 season concluded 118 days ago, the NFL Draft just ended, and now it's time to start counting down for real, as teams and players are about to start fall camp after summer break. This time in college football is just talking season to get hype for the upcoming year. It's the calm before the storm, as I like to say.

On3's Ari Wasserman released his list of the top 10 returning players in College Football, where he ranked Hurricanes star freshman Malachi Toney in the top 3.

Here his what the On3 analyst had to say on Toney:

Do you know how good at football you have to be to have the nickname "Baby Jesus"? Somehow, Toney lived up to that nickname as a true freshman last season. He was the most sensational player on Miami's roster, leading the Hurricanes all the way to the national title game. Though it'll be interesting to see how he eventually stacks up on NFL Draft day, this list isn't about the best pro prospects. It's about the best college football players. Toney is in the top three, no question.

Toney was one of, if not the best, freshman wide receiver this past season. He helped the Hurricanes as the leading receiver to get to the national championship, and had big plays all year. Toney wrapped up his freshman season totaling 109 catches for 1,211 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games, while leading all freshmen in receptions and receiving yards. Toney has that quick burst in his game. His twitchiness is just on a whole other level. He always found his way to get open against defenders and will kill you in open space. The list concludes down below:
  1. WR Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
  2. CB Leonard Moore, Notre Dame
  3. WR Malachi Toney, Miami
  4. EDGE Collin Simmons, Texas
  5. EDGE Dylan Stewart, South Carolina
  6. OT Carter Smith, Indiana
  7. QB Arch Manning, Texas
  8. QB Dante Moore, Oregon
  9. RB Ahmad Hardy, Missouri
  10. WR Cam Coleman, Texas
