Malachi Toney’s Mom Claps Back at Portal Rumors: “Don’t Get It Twisted, We’re Home”
Shortly after Miami’s 27-21 loss to Indiana in the national championship, the Ohio State fans came tweeting about Malachi Toney possibly entering the transfer portal or heading to Columbus.
That’s when Toney’s mom saw it and shut it down quickly:
“Don’t get it twisted, we’re home.”
Rumors shot down before they even started. Honestly, Toney was one of the last players you’d ever expect to leave the U, he bleeds orange and green. But now, thanks to Mom, the record is crystal clear: Malachi isn’t going anywhere.
Toney put together one of the most productive freshman seasons in Miami history with 109 catches for 1,211 yards and 10 TDs in 16 games, leading all freshmen nationally in receptions and receiving yards.
He earned ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year and FWAA Freshman All-American honors, becoming Miami’s first freshman to hit 1,000 yards and just the seventh Hurricane overall. Toney had at least five catches in 13 games, including 146 yards at Virginia Tech and 135 vs. Louisville, and added 113 rushing yards and a TD on 23 carries.
