Miami Hurricanes have landed a new gem in the form of 2024 quarterback commit Judd Anderson, who recently sat down with us on the CanesInSight podcast to share his thoughts on joining the recruiting class, his basketball game, and much more.

"It's been crazy since committing to the Canes," Anderson said. "People are throwing up the U wherever I go. My Twitter notifications are blowing up right now. The fan base is pretty big."

When asked about his decision to commit to Miami, Anderson explained that he fell in love with the school and the city. "The entire vibe around just the school and the city and just everything about it is what I fell in love with," he said.

Anderson is excited to work with Miami's offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, who he describes as "one of the best offensive coordinators in football right now." The talented QB believes he fits what the Canes are looking for at the position.

“Obviously the physical traits – you look at me, you look at the height, you look at just being able to take a hit out of the backfield by those guys and being able to stay firm and strong and deliver shots and I think that's the biggest thing. They want a big armed guy and they want somebody who's gonna rip it around for them and extend the ball down the field through the passing game.

The young quarterback also praised Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, for their ability to develop players and create a winning culture. "The coaches there are amazing people," Anderson said. “After meeting them in person, that’s all I needed to see.

Anderson is a three-star prospect right now, but he doesn’t see it as a slight to his abilities . "I don't look at it so much as, 'I've got to prove this guy something,' because there's nothing I have to prove," he said. "If I just put my mind to it, I'm ready to make plays."

Anderson, who hails from Jones County High School in Gray, Georgia, comes to Miami with a versatile skill set that includes his background as a basketball player. The 6-6 quarterback is not your typical finesse player either – he knows how to get dirty in the paint and is not afraid to mix it up.

“I’m not a stretch 5,” Anderson said with a laugh. “I get rebounds, I make big plays, I block shots – we had a lot of great scorers around me this year so it was an inside-out game and I had a lot of assists this year. I pass the ball around a lot, delivering it to shooters and trying to give us the best opportunities.”
