You know, when Miami came into this game yesterday, I wasn’t too confident the Hurricanes were getting into the tournament. But now that the game is over and Miami won, I’m buzzing right now that they will.
The Hurricanes’ 75–66 win over No. 11 North Carolina was their first true statement win. It’s also a huge one because this is the point in the season where Miami needs to get hot heading into March.
Miami never trailed, controlled the paint with 48 points inside, won the rebounding battle, and outworked the Tar Heels from start to finish. Against one of the most talented teams in the country, the Hurricanes set the tone early and never let UNC take the lead.
This win matters because of how it happened.
North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis dismissed the idea of a “hangover game” after beating Duke, instead pointing to effort, rebounding, and discipline, areas where Miami simply did more.
For Miami, this is a resume anchor. The kind of win that gets remembered in March.
One night. One game at a time. And maybe, the start of something bigger heading into the month of March and the NC State game this Saturday.
Go Canes!
