Jackson Visiting For Junior Day

Tito Benach
2014 Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) ATH Vincent Jackson was a key part in his team’s success this year, as he contributed on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

“It was a great year, I led the county in sacks all the way up until the end of the season. Our team did well we finished 7-3, but missed the playoffs because of a big district loss.”

Jackson was a threat on the defensive side of the ball, as he racked up 70 tackles, 13.5 sacks with 20 tackles for loss.

Despite the success, he wants to improve his game and is looking to become even more of a threat.

“Just overall strength and speed because the game gets faster and I also want to get more flexible.”

The 2014 Jesuit product plays a hybrid role on his defense as he plays both defensive end and outside linebacker. However, Jackson does admit he likes the linebacker role better.

“I like playing linebacker. I started off this season playing middle but towards the end I moved to the outside.”

Jackson already holds many offers and is gaining interest from top schools like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame and Miami.

“The recruiting process was going slow early in the year, but now that we are back in the spring it's picked up speed again.”

Jackson is planning on attending Miami’s Junior day this week and explained his interest for the Hurricanes.

“The city, I like the school, and I am visiting the school this weekend for Junior Day.”

Jackson has spoken with every coach on the Miami staff, and had early praise for Coach Golden

“He is a nice, kinda laid back guy. If you don’t know him, you can get along with him right away.”

Jackson isn’t looking for anything in particular when he visits Miami.

“I’m just looking for a nice structure in a program.”

While the hybrid linebacker currently lives in Tampa, he says distance will not be a big factor.

“It might, but for now I don’t really think it will be a big factor.”
