How about a big-time portal commitment to get things rolling for Miami on this beautiful Sunday? Insert Georgia transfer Somto Cyril, one of the best bigs in the portal, who is offically a Hurricane.

On Sunday, Georgia forward Somto Cyril committed to the Miami Hurricanes, sources tell Canesinsight. Clocking in at 6-foot-11, Cyril was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and the 2026 Naismith Men's College Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team this past season after posting per-game averages of 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and a massive 2.2 blocks in 21.2 minutes as a sophomore—the Georgia native shot 75.9 percent from the field and 57.8 percent from the line.

Cyril, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, joins Miami's Shelton Henderson, Dante Allen, and five-star forward Caleb Gaskins.

Cyril was a four-star recruit out of Overtime Elite (GA) before committing to Kentucky and shortly decommitting after John Calipari took the job at Arkansas, and then Somto ended up at Georgia. In his freshman season, he averaged 4.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 14.1 minutes per outing and shooting 62.6 percent from the field and 48.8 percent from the line.

What a big-time addition to get this roster going. Excited to see what Jai Lucas and the staff do next. Stay locked in on CanesInsight for the latest Miami Hurricanes news.
