Thank you.
You may only have analyzed highlights from one game against Rutgers. But knowing that Enos recruited him out of HS and has opportunity to study his work as a backup at OS, posters should feel good about landing him. But still we have many here think they know better.

I have a feeling Lance will eventually do a breakdown of him as well. I literally just wanted to make this an FTP of Tate's college career like I would breakdown one of the Miami QB's from week to week during the season. A single game if you would.

The twitchy pocket movement is reminiscent of Baker Mayfield but I hesitate to make that comparison because it's only one trait.

If there's one flaw I've seen in his game it's the occasional Russell Wilson-esque tendency to hesitate when throws are available and run around semi-recklessly. But like Wilson it seems to work out for him most of the time and it's possible that the lack of height clouds certain throws or at least casts enough doubt to turn them down.

In a system heavy on RPOs and PA crossers he should be able to be decisive and use his quick setup and release to good effect. Enos has talked about the importance of ballhandling and I think Martell can master that aspect given his experience and crisp footwork.

Here Here. Clap clap emoji

richt's offenses were so inefficient and arrhythmic. even putting tate's big play and scrambling potential aside, simply having an accurate and efficient quarterback would be a whole new world for this team. based on what i've seen from both enos and tate, it seems like we may finally have the ingredients for an offense that consistently gets the ball to its playmakers in space and so they can run after the catch. jeff thomas' one handed catch vs LSU was a great highlight, but with an accurate throw he would've been running up the sideline.

Haha. I think Tate has potential but you go so much deeper than the average fan. Thanks Roman.

You know the funny thing. A lot of times in my head I think I actually am simplifying things. (No wonder I got kicked off a flag football team once for being "too confusing in the huddle" I mean I just told them "Kick black left, White Right, Center call on me, check with me on the line in case we need to go Baylor")

It’s like talking to your kids. Why don’t they understand?! ThNks for all you do Roman. Much appreciated.

I honestly would not have faulted a guy like Williams (who I think I could elevate the qb play from a year ago on the field) for leaving a Mark Richt offense. I honestly do not think people understood how difficult it was for a quarterback to operate under that style of offense. I ultimately got validation from that fact later on in the season when I had the opportunity to talk candidly with a former player. It was honestly a surreal experience and just a intrinsic view of things that I valued being able to see.

But, according to posters here:
His competition in HS was garbage.
He doesn't have good arm strength.
He is too short and wouldn't be able to see the field
He doesn't have sound mechanics.

Feel free to add to this list, people.
Who has been saying that? I think the kid is a tough competitive gamer who possesses a high degree of mental toughness to go along with excellent QB skills. He has shown that he is accurate and does not throw interceptions. He is lightning quick in his release and with his legs. The only thing Martell lacks is ideal height. Kid has every tool and attribute to to be a fantastic college quarterback.

With Martell, Coach Diaz's unapologetic take no prisoners type of attitude, the schematic sorcery of Dan Enos and the plethora of weapons on offense, we could potentially be looking at the most explosive, exciting and electrifying offense Miami has had since who knows when. Fasten your seatbelts gentlemen. I've got a gut feeling we are about to go on a really wild ride!

Wrote this about him earlier today:

I don't see Baker Mayfield. As I mentioned in a chat off this board, I tried to watch every throw available from him on the internet. The 23/28 this year is slightly misleading. There were some bubbles, etc., and a decent amount of digs and short outs. He throws those well and with accuracy. A few passes downfield, including a long TD down the sideline.

From his other tape, I just don't see Baker Mayfield unless we limit the comparison to his feet. Martell has *a lot* of pop in his feet. It's really noticeable inside the pocket. That's really important stuff in terms of modern football and extending plays. When he throws on the run, he was very solid. He sometimes throws from wild feet/platforms. I was expecting a different caliber of arm when people mentioned Baker Mayfield. It's closer to the kid from UCF.

All in all, it's great for the program because, at worst, it pushes the others. At best, we have a seemingly accurate, shifty QB who can get playmakers the ball.

Basically, watched the same stuff you posted because it's what's available of his live snaps. I'd be very curious how his game changes under Enos and how he'd look throwing some of those deeper crosses and deep posts. The good news is he seems like he has all the traits to be a QB who moves the chains - perhaps the biggest thing we've lacked here forever.

Your AVI is my favorite movie btw.

His eyes are my favorite trait. All of rhe great short passing QBs got it.
Wilson
Mayfield
Brees
Tua

Mayfield arm is extremely live. Martell is decent. Martell is really going to have to make a living like Brees on footwork and extreme accuracy as well as feel for the game.

He is also extremely slippery in the pocket which is a great thing.

I have no doubt Martell would have struggled in that system. You really have to mix simple and complex with Martell. His Football IQ is extremely high but he can get chaotic in the pocket as J.T. Barrett talked about in a presser.

Enos system is a lot more friendly to his strengths but make no mistake, Martell is not Tua. Tua ability to execute is elite. Martell on the other hand has some traits I think translate to the pros better than college but both need more development. Especially Martell.

Only similarities between Tate and Baker is they both are short white and have large ********s

I hate to say it but even with us winning, no way is he a 1 and done QB. He will need all three years like Mayfield. He has some kinks he needs to iron out but without question, he is working off of a great base. I clearly see why OSU went with Fields. In that system, he is just insane and he gives OSU a chance to win a title every year.

I do believe Martell gives us a shot to always win games. I was one that compared him to Mayfield but he has some Milton in him (UCF), some Brees, some Wilson, some Tua, and some Dungey (Cuse) in him. Development will be key. Right now, he is no where near close to the 1st round but he has potential to be gradable sooner than later. It takes a lot. Daniel Jones from Duke was one of my favorite QB prospects and it took RS Junior year to become a 1st round level QB. I been high on Jones since his freshman year.

Murray is a player I've always loved and it took him till his RS Jr year to become 1st round level QB.

What I am saying is Martell is as talented as those guys. System is critical for him. I love the move we made to get Enos. He has more work to do. Murray always had the accuracy but he finally was able to mix that with the 4.3 speed and elite agility he has as well as the ability to avoid the big hit.

Most of these guys just need 4 years but Mayfield needed 5. He didn't have the agility and skill that Murray or Martell had. But he had a better arm and he worked a system as well as anyone.

I am hyped to finally have talent like Martell. For years we choose guys with keys missing traits but with some otherworldly but useless talent and it capped our development. Martell is a game changer. It's showing that Miami is realizing, college football, is becoming a QB league's.

Great analysis Roman, as always mate! Loving his quick twitch and lightning release. Sure, is he 6’6”? Nope, but for my money I’d rather have someone who can get the ball out quickly, accurately, or gain the yardage necessary via his feet. This young man checks all the boxes, I’m really liking his addition to the QB room. He will inevitably push the other QB’s to increase their level of competition or they’ll be left in the dust. So, all around that works greatly in our favor. That and I can’t wait to see him throw a rope to Brevin for a TD. Those 2 are going to be magical for the Canes mark my words.

They both have great feet.
They both have the ability to throw on the run.
Both have electric eyes (Cat eyes) to scan the field and find an open target
They both throw WR's and TE's open. None of that I know the route and I am just going to throw it to a spot which is good but not if you are their size.
Both are extremely accurate.
Both have a major chip on their shoulder and had to transfer.

Lol at people trashing his comp and saying he would lose to SF teams. Do y’all forget he beat STA like that’s the best team from Florida lol. Now I’m not saying I know he’s gonna be a great one yet but I don’t get the bashing of the kid. I think we can win big with him. Bc of one thing. WE WON 10 GAMES WITH ROSIER WHO IS DOG****
