Former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book appeared on a podcast earlier this week to talk about this weekend’s matchup between the Hurricanes and the Irish. He recalled just how intense the atmosphere in Miami was during his playing days.

“It was hostile… until we went down to Georgia, it was the loudest place, honestly, it might be louder than Georgia. Easily one of the top two loudest places I’ve ever played in my career,” Book said.

He even noted it was louder than Virginia Tech, Michigan, and Georgia, all stadiums he experienced during his college career.

Hurricanes and Irish fans alike will remember that 2017 game in Miami, one of the loudest in Hurricanes history. That night, Miami dominated from start to finish, rolling to a 41–8 win.

Miami meets Notre Dame this Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium. Every trip the Irish have made to Miami Gardens has ended the same way: with the Canes sending them home empty-handed. Notre Dame is 0–6 in its last six games at Miami, no matter the decade or the coach.

The Irish have never been able to figure it out at Hard Rock, and with another raucous environment expected, could this weekend feel like a repeat of that 2017 beatdown?
