FINAL: Clemson Pulls Away Late to Defeat Miami WBB 70–55 in Watsco

The Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team fell to Clemson, 70–55, at home on Sunday afternoon. Ra Shaya Kyle and Gal Raviv each scored 12 points for Miami, but the Tigers forced 13 turnovers and held a 32–25 rebounding advantage.

Miami now holds a 10–5, 2–2 ACC record, while Clemson stands at 11–5 and 2-2 ACC.

The Canes scored the first points of the game and secured seven defensive rebounds in the opening five minutes. Following the first and only timeout of the first quarter, Clemson went on an 8–4 run to take a 14–12 lead. Adams answered with a pull-up jumper to tie the game at 14–14, but the Tigers converted the final basket of the quarter to hold a 16–14 advantage after period one.

Natalie Wetzel opened the second quarter with a three-pointer just 10 seconds in, reclaiming the lead for Miami. Adams followed with another jumper to extend the Canes’ advantage to 19–16. Miami stayed in front throughout the entirety of the period, with Wetzel leading the offensive charge by scoring seven of the team’s 14 second-quarter points. At halftime, the Canes held a 28–26 lead over Clemson.

Clemson opened the second half by quickly tying the game at 28–28 and then building a four-point lead at 34–30. Miami managed to whittle the lead back down to one, but the Tigers pulled ahead once more at 42-37 (3:34), their largest lead of the game so far. Despite forcing six Clemson turnovers, Miami trailed throughout the remainder of the third quarter and entered the final period down 46–41.

Raviv tallied the first basket of the fourth, followed by a three ball from Kimpson to even the score at 46-46. The Tigers then went on a 19-4 offensive run to secure a 15-point advantage (65-50), Clemson’s largest of the game. From there the Tigers maintained the lead, ultimately closing out 70-55 over Miami.

The Hurricanes will remain at Watsco Center, Jan. 8 for its fifth ACC matchup of the season. Tipoff on Thursday is set for 3 p.m. against the No. 13 Louisville Cardinals. The home contest will be available on ACCNX.

I don’t follow lady hoops day to day but is it safe to say through a year and a half that Cullop has been a disappointment taking over for Katie?
