ELITE 2029 QB CJ Cypher praises Miami's 'NFL style program' and recaps visit
After landing a 2027 and 2028 quarterback in back-to-back weeks, the Hurricane staff continues to put significant effort in its QB of the future, hosting the premier arm in the 2029 class with CJ Cypher last weekend.
A 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal-caller from Carrollton, Ga., Cypher has generated plenty of buzz from some of the premier schools in the country, boasting offers from the likes of Miami, Ohio State and Alabama. As a freshman the Carrollton product boasted a 26-3 TD to INT ratio, alongside his impressive displays in the 7-on-7 circuit. I spoke to Cypher for CanesInSight following his visit, here's everyting the top 2029 arm had to say about the Hurricanes.
On what caught his eye during the visit:
"First of all, what stood out to me was the environment — the coaches, the fans, and how they talked about me before I even arrived. The coaches have done a great job building a relationship with me, and it feels like a great opportunity overall."
On his conversations with the Miami staff:
"The communication is a bit limited right now, but when I get down there, we can have good, in-depth conversation and fit everything into one day. It’s a lot, but it’s still a good way to make sure that communication is strong."
On taking in Miami's scrimmage:
"Another thing that caught my eye is the way they operate. They run things at a very high level, almost like an NFL-style program, and I can definitely see myself playing there."
"Miami is a great school, and we’ll see where things go, but I can definitely picture myself in that offense. They run an even pass-run offense, and I feel like I’d fit well in that system."
On seeing Miami make an effort with HS quarterback recruiting:
"I know they committed to a 2027–2028 quarterback. I haven’t thought too much about it, and I’ve heard the stigma about them bringing in quarterbacks through the portal, but that’s not really an issue for me. I’m confident in my ability to compete."
On the top schools in his process:
"Some schools that are standing out right now are Ohio State, Florida, Miami, Auburn, and Virginia Tech."
On what fans should know about him:
"I bring energy, effort, and hard work — and I think that’s something they all value."
