Elite 2027 EDGE Anthony Sweeney is starting to trim his list.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound pass rusher told Rivals he’s down to 12 schools as his recruitment begins to pick up steam. Sweeney is widely viewed as one of the top defenders in the 2027 class, coming in as a Top 25 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings and the No. 3 EDGE in the country.

Miami is one of the programs still in the hunt. The Hurricanes are battling a loaded group that includes LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Oregon, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Maryland, and Texas Tech.

Sweeney plays his high school ball at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland. As a junior, he put together a strong season, totaling 34 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks while appearing in 11 games.

It’s still early in the process, but cutting things down to 12 at this stage shows Sweeney is already being selective — and Miami remains very much in the mix.

I've been wanting for us to establish a line into Our Lady of Good Counsel for years. Great program that has produced players such as Stefon Diggs, Kendall Fuller, Dorian O Daniel, John Paschal, Cam Hart and Jelani Jenkins.

What’s up with the production? Haven’t watched film but production seems low for a top kid in the country
