FWIW I've had multiple former coaches of Brini tell me that he is not a great prospect. Length, yes. But not the speed most think and lacks physicality.

Is UM looking at any pure cb who are uncommitted and not too raw, that you can mention?

Doesn't work like that. Look at the NFL. Richard Sherman was a lightly recruited kid out of Compton who wound up at Stanford and got drafted in the 5th round. Josh Norman didn't even play division one football. Point is, you really have to develop kids at this position.

My point is, we don't have that luxury next year. The Cbs we have coming back arent world beaters. So without more proven prospects, we are likely just in wait and see mode for yet another year or two.

I think we end up with Brini in this class . Stupid not to get him if he doesn't make it at CB move him to safety . We need safeties who can actually cover too

See i have a issue with that, i want playmakers on the roster not filler players, give me legit safeties

That's great in theory, but we got too many holes to fill right now. Prioritize the best kids, but don't leave those spots open if you don't get as many "best" kids as you need. Sure, next year is loaded but if you leave spots open this year, you need to get every single kid next year. And then all your DBs are in the same class.

Pretty sure I've been hearing that next year was the loadedest ever for like 5 years now.

So he's slow and instead of making up for lack of speed with some physicality... he's not tough and physical?

When I look at prospects, speed is the first thing that matters. The guys we're talking about are all "close" but, not necessarily equal in talent. Only time will reveal who was better at the collegiate level. Of the 4, Brini, Edwards, Henderson and Collier, I think Henderson has the better upside because of his speed. Edwards is very very close second because of his coverage abilities, flexibility, aggressiveness and size. Collier reminds me of, AND I'm Not Saying Anywhere Near the Same Speed and Skill set, of Deon Sanders, because of his athletic ability and fluidity. If Collier is fast and gets faster with college training he could be the better CB. Brini is a tweener in that he is not an elite CB or S. Not fast, but definitely not slow. Has skills but I can't crystal ball his potential.

Love to get Edwards back. Kid has a great skill set and measurables. Henderson too, but that seems like a long shot according to those in the know. Collier looks like a player also. Looking forward to hearing the names of the other guys committed elsewhere, I'm sure Pete will let us know when the time is right. Bandy, Edwards, Collier and Deejay(although I like him on offense with the ball in his hands) is a **** good CB haul. Throw in Carter and Gibson at S and that's a more than solid DB class. These kids are all ball players.

Go Canes!

Honestly, I'm not particularly impressed with any of these guys. Edwards is probably my favorite, but it's a lukewarm favorite.

I think Deejay Dallas is the best db in the class no matter who we get

I agree!
I think Bandy is

I also think Bandy is. I was not including our current commits. I put Bandy over Dallas just because I have not seen Dallas actually play CB on tape, he looks athletic, but I'm not going to say he is a better DB than Bandy when I have not seen him play it.

Elder didn't play corner in highschool but is still better than most who did. Dallas has that same playmaking talent except he has the perfect size you want in a corner.

I just like how fast bandy is and how he plays the ball . He's jumping the ball I hope we have one on each side with Dallas and bandy

Never liked brini from the start, found it odd that he never went to camps, this local DB class is really weak IMO, the two best are samuels and bandy, next year though is the deepest i have seen in awhile

Brini reminds me of the dude with the miniscule weener who never showered after gym class. He refused to participate at camps or run a 40. He's hiding.

mY favs are Edwards and Collier.

Ima fan of Collier...played a lot of offense, and qb.

Edwards has played cb for about 4 years...and is plus size and battle tested having gone against miramar's div 1 wrs in practice..and the div 1 wrs on their schedule yearly (IMG,Dillard,Sta, Deerfield)

Agreed on Edwards, don't know as much about Collier. Would love a class of Henderson, Bandy, Edwards and Collier. Add to that, Dallas could be a CB is we need him there and we have some depth.

Wasn't it posted somewhere (maybe by Pete) that they are recruiting Collier at Safety.

Yeah, Collier's tape did not look like that of a plan B kid, he is a stud. Edwards is a stud also, that one hurt.

I'd rank the remaining DB targets for Miami like this:
1. Brian Edwards #3
2. Marco Wilson
3. Antwan Collier #4
4. CJ Henderson #1
5. Latavious Brini

What's your rationale? From what I've read on the board, I get the sense that it's something more like what I have (See above). Any rationale for your ranking i.e. depth, skill set, immediate needs, etc.?

I think CJ Henderson is a great athlete but not a great cornerback. He's all potential. Miami shouldn't be getting a bunch of "potential" guys right now at CB.
Edwards, Wilson, & Collier are ready to contribute early.

Reading this thread and knowing that we are losing Colbert and Elder, sheesh. Someone pay off someone to get Colbert a sixth year medical waiver. I think Bandy will be good and it's nice to see how Young has progressed the last few games (and of course we always have master of all trades Jaquan) but man I see certain guys having to play too much again next year. Need to get Edwards back.
