That’s exactly how I see Redwine. Great team guy. Valuable reserve. Special teams demon. Not a championship-level football Safety.

He might be about as athletic as Lewis, but he doesn’t have all those dudes around him like Lewis did.

I really don't disagree with anything that yall are saying. I do believe Redwine made some strides last yr to justify his starting position. No he is not all world anything and if Amari can beat him out I'm all for it.... But don't just give it to him cause of the hype.... Make him earn it. I just love it that we are improving the safety position after the **** we've had in the past minus Jenkins and Bush.

As far as the comparisons to James Lewis... Meh. Other than those 2 plays in his career I remember (blocked punt return vs fsu... thank u Ed Goat Reed and the pick six vs vs crouch) , he was a fill in player so I don't see the point of mentioning him. But like some one had said, the players around him were all world and if he was on this team he would be equal to Redwine

Well, Lewis did start his whole SR year at safety and was good enough to be drafted in 2002. Throughout his career, even though he didn't start till 2001, he was always a solid special teams contributor and played snaps defensively

And I believe you are mistaking him for Markese Fitzgerald(another guy who was a very good role player at UM, actually hung out with him at the Notre Dame tailgate this past season) who housed that block punt in Tallahassee. Fitzgerald was a guy IIRC, was a starter early in his career but as Butch brought in more guys, he had to change his role to more of a nickel back and he was very good at it
