Miami is hosting a big one out of the transfer portal, and this one actually matters.
Former Duke quarterback Darian Mensah is on campus in Coral Gables, and he brought a familiar face with him. Wide receiver Cooper Barkate, one of his main targets at Duke, is also visiting as Miami tries to lock down its next quarterback.
Mensah first broke out at Tulane in 2024, starting all 13 games and throwing for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns, and only six picks, while completing just under 66 percent of his passes. He could move a little too, adding 132 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
He took it up another notch after transferring to Duke to play for Manny Diaz in 2025. Mensah threw for nearly 4,000 yards, 34 touchdowns, and again just six interceptions, with his completion rate sitting around 67 percent.
Now he’s in Miami, walking around campus with his receiver, while the Hurricanes try to sell him on being the next guy. This visit feels important, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if things move quickly from here.
