Following the Miami Hurricanes' 52-3 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday night, a few Hurricanes spent their Sunday with the Miami Marlins.
Signal-caller Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate threw out the first pitch ahead of the Marlins versus Braves game, alongside by defensive lineman Marquez Carter and long snapper Adam Booker.
Both throws unfortunately missed the strike zone; Mensah threw too high, and Barkate threw too low. Growing up, Barkate played youth baseball, stating that he liked to play the pitcher. Mensah did not play baseball growing up, instead chasing his dream in football while also playing basketball at his high school in California.
The Marlins' regular season concluded last night after they defeated the No. 1 seed in the East standings, the Atlanta Braves, 5-3. The Marlins finished with an overall record of 80-82, missing the postseason.
The Hurricanes are prepping for the Clemson Tigers this upcoming Saturday in Death Valley. The Tigers currently sit at a 3-1 overall record, riding high on a three-game winning streak after losing to the LSU Tigers in Week 1.
