Here's the thing. If you're going to hand out anything then you might as well hand out everything. I can understand the decision not to cheat. I can't understand the decision to cheat in a mediocre manner.
Makes no sense to cheat a little if that's what we're doing. Either way you're fcked if you get caught. Doesn't matter if you get caught giving recruits a g-note or stacks of g-notes.
What do you think would get us to the "big boy schools" level? Is it just winning more? Because I personally thought the hire of Richt would help us get to that level, since he was a pretty elite recruiter at Georgia.
Not just talking about Lingard, but in general.
The Miami brand is weak right now. It is the equivelnt of Brent Musberger talking about Penn St as Linebacker U. The brand is just so out of touch with young men. Devin Hester was our last really relevant player and that guy is now retired. It is impressive that we landed Richt. Going to take some time as UF and FSU and Bama all have better brands. We might as well e selling kids on the Kangaroos shoe because Walter Peyton wore them. Give it time. Our 3 LB's are the new Jessie Armstead, Mike Burrow, Darrin Smith. Norton and Jackson are the new Kennedy and Stubbs. Jobe and 2019 kid might be our next first round corners. Can not build dynasties in a year or 2. Say OSU or USC and I say again we don't have the same brand right now nor do we have the momentum on the Line of scrimmage like those schools did. Braxton Miller is doing nothing in the pros yet they wanted to crown the Heisman on him because he never got touched running around. We had nobody like Joey Bosa. Takes time.
In recruiting it can go one of four ways:
*you have kids who grow up die hard fans of a program and want to go there NO MATTER WHAT and represent their city.
*you have the kids who don't really have guidance at home & allow outside people (advisors & coaches) to sway them towards specific schools for personal gain.
*you have kids that are in love with what's hot right now, (Bama, OSU, FSU, etc.) and want to jump on the band wagon.
*you have kids that take their visits & fall in love with being "recruited" and the "benefits" of it. There is HUGE money being offered to these kids families and benefits that most don't even think about. Big boy schools have those details down to a science.
Most kids fall into one of those four with outliers of course. Miami is missing all four right now and we've been all four when we were great.

Richt had HELP from those boosters at UGA. Havent you ever wondered why our coaches recruit so much better at other schools?
Richt says DB, WR and OL are critical recruiting areas for Miami this cycle.

Lingard will end up at OSU new leader blown away there, or up in Tallahassee unless Noles get Cam Akers.

Need to get to Donaldson quickly! Noles insiders are pretty confident for a flip.
Like it was stated before Richt still had help from boosters UGA that allowed him to offer special perks. To be in play for elite prospects we have to be willings to do the same. Like 'Chise said before why we even cheating if we arent giving enough benefits to land guys that will really impact our program. Go big or go home. No reason other then more $$$ should the Ole Miss of the world be able to scoop 5*s out of our backyard. Shaprio fu*ked our program for a decade but this school had elite benefits when he was doing that dirty work and we had top national recruits banging on our door to come play for us. We need a bagman or a better one

Exactly. I'm not going to get worked up about a current commit who wore the warm up jacket of a University that he was currently OV'ing.

The guy Michael L does a great job for them. He's their version of Pete. He's well connected. I wouldn't dismiss this like a UF post. Also, this isn't new. They've felt thus way for weeks. Just keep an eye on it. Personally, I don't feel good about it. Pete?
Maybe this is why we have heard more lineman names pop up recently. Will the Yearby situation and how his PT was taken over the season have any weight on another Central player. Does he see how Cook was treated "different" at FSU.

Not saying it won't be viewed that way with high school kids.
But Yearby and Cook aren't even close to being in the same league. Cook likes like the clear cut best RB in the nation and Yearby may not even be drafted come April.
