If he is shorter than 6'1 he needs to play cb. This is not because he can't play safety this is because of how he will pair up with tennison. No sense in having 2 safeties under 6 feet. This is just my personal preference, one safety 5'10 the other 6'1+.
I understand you said it’s your personal preference but height does not determine ability. Put the 2 best safeties back there. The kid is a ballhawk he needs to be at safety

So ur saying him at CB will prevent him from playing at his best.

He ran a lasered 4.7 at the Opening Miami last year. The big positives is he ran a 4.3 shuttle and had a 33 inch vert. It means he’s explosive.
A year at this age and development is a long time. Often guys drop drastically in track and field sprinting in a year. Son went from official 11.81 to 11.28 in HS track between 10th and 11th grade season. Be interesting to see if he comes to any camp, combine or runs HS track this season.

Yes, he has a nose for the football. Safeties have the opportunity to make plays all over the field. Playing corner would limit his impact on defense

For context, John Dunmore (who everyone wanted last cycle) also ran a 4.7 40 and 4.3 shuttle.

Look at his game speed on outrunning people in the return game and closing in on offensive receivers in S. Florida football! Fast enough and besides look at the offer sheet and those top schools do now recruit turtles as DBs.

This guy is next in line after Jaquan and Bandy. Similar body types and players coming from the southern part of Dade.

When I saw him against Columbus, he was the punter, returner, wildcat and defensive back. He does it all.
Interesting comparisons D$, I pictured him a good bit bigger than both those guys.

Just got a bump to four stars by 247 and his composite rating is also 4-stars now.

Dat bias tho.
And they dropped the rest of the class members rankings

Chaney got a bump
No he didn’t on their individual rankings. 247 dropped him like10 spots but he did get a bump on the composite. Looks like some guys dropped in terms of ranking that were ahead of him on the composite

You're right...I didn't know 247 had him ranked that high initially my bad.
I know luke stampini seems to have the most say in the Florida rankings and just 2 weeks ago or so he said this was a weak south Florida class and there are stronger talents in other parts of the state, while that may true to a certain extent the amount of south Florida talent in the top 30 or so is appalling imo... Francois is still not properly ranked. Henry Gray ranked 130 spots ahead of Jaiden Francois? That’s bullsh*t. It’s funny how he has players in a lot of pro gator areas rated high

Yea, I peeped that too man. He's a UF homer and it's funny how he props up a lot of kids that are serious about UF. Bryan Robinson dropping is what threw me for a loop because he's dominated every camp he's done this offseason and Ivins said he was a 5 star talent. They ranked Marcus Flemming over Robinson which is a tad perplexing. Flemming got a nice bump to 111.

Flemming is really good imo, he should have got near the same bump that jones bell got. He’s **** good in his own right but still

Its a process. Its done little by little as they can only evaluate so many kids at a time. The Miami bias is not true. No fan base is happy with how their players are ranked.

Bell is the best receiver in South Florida IMO
