Very few offensive linemen are running under a 5.0

4.76 is a solid time for a 250 pound LB. This dude has o-linemen speed at 220.
Stop being slow, Joe Schobert is a whole grown man that has gone through a college S&C program. Flagg runs a 4.9 and Schobert basically runs a 4.8, do u really not think Flagg can get better straight line speed between now and the time he enters college, as well as his time in a college S&C program. You keep bringins up weight like an idiot, one dude is 5'10 the other is 6'1, ofc the taller guy can hold more weight naturally. Considering Flagg is already 225lbs he will probably only add an extra 10lbs, making him 235lbs which would be perfect for a MLB his height. Do u even watch film, because if you did you wouldn't be crying about his coverage ability.

First play, he quickly diagnoses the play, drops back into space and lights up the WR. He will only get stronger, faster, and he is a MLB its not like he will be man on with the guy in the ever.

No you stop being dumb. Every slow player wont get faster. The dude will get exposed vs these spread offenses.

ok, how bout you learn how to use logic, he is a high school Junior that has never ran track, has great lateral movement, and has not been through a college S&C program, but he is not gonna get faster. I mean it not like he is coming in and planning to put on 25+lbs. Its kind of ridiculous that you can't see a high school junior getting any faster.

That shît doesn't matter. Some dudes are just not fast. It isn't his fault. I'm not gone keep talking about it. We will find out if he can play here or if he ends up being another cis special that flames out.

it does matter because we are talking about an athlete who is above average in every other combine measurement for his position besides the 40, not only that he is ******* 17 years old, but he can't even knock down his forty time by .2 seconds according to you.

Athletic article quote ....

At “The Opening” in Houston back in March, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds. Flagg Jr. contends he ran it on a bad ankle and plays much faster than his 40-time.

Straight line speed for a linebacker in COLLEGE is not that big of a deal...but he looks a bit slow.

I can see why we like him a lot. His best film, to me, is doing a lot of what Shaq Quarterman does. Traditional linebacker alignment, playing between the tackles, and coming down hill. Sure tackler. Can he cover?...from his film, its not a negative and thats a good start. Maybe its just my preconceived notion seeing that 40 before watching his film, but I wasn't as impressed with his cover tape as you all are...it was good, it just looked like it was just rudimentary ****.

But...just be mindful...you can be a great linebacker...but if you're a little slow footed, no matter how good you are, this is always a possibility.

From Manny Navarro's interview with his coach:

Last season, Flagg Jr. racked up 144 tackles, including 33 for loss, with five sacks and five forced fumbles. He played on a defense that featured a pair of safeties who signed with TCU and USC and a front seven with recruits who signed with Texas Tech and Texas State.
North Shore outscored its opponents by an average of 41 points per game last fall.

He plays much bigger than what he is,” North Shore coach John Kay said of Flagg Jr., who usually works out with the school’s defensive line group because he squats over 600 pounds and bench presses 315.

“He has an explosive lower body,” Kay continued. “He’s extremely instinctive, plays with a lot of urgency. He essentially quarterbacked our defense last year. I think he fits perfectly into what Miami needs and is trying to do. We played 16 games and, frankly, there’s a lot of those games where he was on the bench at halftime. We’re a 4-3 defense, and it’s designed to make sure he can make some plays. He did exactly that.”

Alumni really doing their part -

“I’d say the highlight was probably when we went to eat breakfast in the Grove and I met (former Hurricanes linebacker) Jon Beason and (his former Carolina Panthers teammate) Julius Peppers,” Flagg Jr. said. “Beason and I talked for about 15 minutes. He was just telling me that Miami is a great place and this is the place to be. We’re all family here.”

That’s the same message Flagg Jr. got from former Hurricanes star and future NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed two weeks ago when Reed called him on FaceTime.

Zach Thomas was a small 4.8 guy who played fast like Flagg. JJ would take him in a heart beat! I’m stoked to see this kid okay for us. Bet he’s a ST demon too. 🙌🙌🙌

Because it's fair to compare high school Juniors to college grads after NFL combine prep? Joe Schobert was a <195 lb. JAG athlete RB with 0 scholarship offers. He put on 15+ lbs after his Sr. season and showcased enough athleticism at a state all-star game to get a walk-on offer from Wisconsin.

He's a perfect example of why combine testing is incredibly overrated for high school kids. If it confirms what you see on film then that's useful but it's stupid to dog kids for a slow 40 when they're athletic on film and their other test results are good.

I know you're a miserable cynic so you probably never paid for sports coverage but Manny Navarro has an article about this kid on the Athletic and the kid confirmed that he ran that 40 on a bad ankle. I'm sure he will run in the 4.7s when he gets on campus.

What did you watch? There is practice film of him on hudl at safety and nickel corner essentially from this spring. I think it speaks for itself but you're welcome to disagree.

Didn’t think he’d pull the trigger for us so this is fabulous news!!! Kid is just a baller straight up. ***** all those that have a hard-on for only 40 times and not watched his HUDL highlights. He’s the real deal, especially getting those stats while only working mostly 1 half a game on average. Flagg is going to be special here wait and see. Also great to hear Beason and Reed, who played, recognized his talent and assisted in getting him onboard.

You would not have wanted Beason and Reed out of high school. Flagg is the type of kid that will help us win the Coastal and that will help us get the top kids. Got to build this thing.

Thats Saquon Barkley. The chances of this kid ever seeing a back that good are slim to none.
