Miami and coach Mario Cristobal have just secured another experienced wide receiver from the transfer portal, as Cincinnati slot receiver Tony Johnson has committed to the team.

Tony is a three-star transfer portal wide receiver. Although he was not rated out of high school, he hails from Ocala, Florida, which is about five hours away from Miami's campus in Coral Gables.

Tony is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver who recorded 48 receptions for 449 yards last season. Johnson was a key player for Cincinnati during his lone season with the program, having transferred from FAU last year.

During his time at FAU, he recorded a total of 669 receiving yards over two years, catching 60 passes and scoring seven touchdowns.

Tony now joins a huge transfer portal class by Mario Cristobal.

Welcome to the family.

What does he do well ? Besides bieng experienced?

Unless he returns kicks or some sleeper type transfer.. why spend on this dude versus developing your young talented WR’s and avoid losing them to the portal.

If a guy isn’t a difference maker not sure why a take like this is worth it
I guarantee they ain’t spending that much. This addition would not stop them from adding someone elite if that player presented themselves.… also he is better than RayRay and Toney is a freshman

No need in even putting energy into it. Welcome kid and good luck.

It is Y4. There are no more excuses. Everyone associated with this program, players/coaches/staff, Mario is responsible for it all. Either win this weak *** conference or stfu.

Meh. Doubt he plays much. Good to have on a 105 man roster.
