Have you guys ever announced before?
I've never done a game before. Was on camera throughout high school so I'm not completely clueless, but never called a game.
Scary! I had a buddy in college that went on to be a sports broadcaster. He used to pull a chair up and sit right in front of his TV with the sound on mute and call games while they were playing live. I tried it a few times and was amazed at how many times I would stumble around. And Ive done public speaking throughout my entire career.

Are you a color guy, or main commentary?
If commentary,
First thing people will notice. First, they know numbers. So make sure you know who is who. Second, they know down and distance, so make sure that is what they know and say it often since they won't have graphics. Third, say the score a lot. Fourth, in high school games being a national broadcast, mention as many colleges as you can with where a player is offered.

That's funny. When I was growing up and thinking I'd one day become a broadcaster, I'd simulate a quarter or half on Madden and record myself calling the action. My step brother would sit there and look at me like I had lost my mind (I had).
Good luck, Pete. I'm sure you have plenty of filler with the practices you've seen.
Some interesting storylines for you to fill the air:
- Progression of the "South Florida QB"
- Obvious one is the amount of talent in the game and where they're going
- What the game means and how it affected each school's State Championship run last year
- The "coaching" storyline about how South Florida was once known for poor organization
- connect it all with what people know: how the concentration of talent leads to the most NFL players for a small area
There's more, I'm sure. I imagine you've got all this together either way. Hope you do great.
