Canes Legacy: “DBC, is Manny the guy?”

DBC: “Well, let me see what he does against Bama & UNC, then I’ll be better equipped to answer that question.”

LMAO. No chit Sherlock! We all will! lol.

Great interview guys. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

But I’m wondering if DBC forgets that HR is not “our” stadium v. Mr Ross’ stadium. So the idea of putting up a statue of Howard there sounds good, but that would be The Miami Dolphin’s call. One of the drawbacks of not having ur own home v. being renters.

He was right about spread offenses being a gimmick and wouldn’t last back in the early 2000’s on canesport. History has proven him right and me wrong.
I hate to tell DBC, but besides Colleges, the NFL runs spread offenses. It comes down to having the right personnel to run it. For more on the subject go to this link. https://www.espn.com/college-footba...nquered-college-football-hal-mumme-joe-burrow. As usual DBC is making predictions that shows why he gets little respect from most people.

Oy Vey!!

Of all the people to bring on to talk about the great Howard Schnellenberger. You chose this guy?

Go Canes!!

You can say what you want, but DBC is very knowledgeable regarding the history of our program dating back to the Schnelly years.

He's as passionate as they come about the U.

Sorry, CL, but this is where we have to agree to disagree.

How old is DBC? Honestly.

The reason why DBC should NEVER be on another Cane website, podcast, or production is right there in one of his first statements.

"How many of you remember 1979?" ****, DBC does not remember 1979, and he needs to stop pretending that he does. He lived in New York. No New York newspaper or other media source was covering UM football in 1979. ****, I grew up in Orlando (before I went to UM), where Bill Buchalter was a pioneer in covering football recruiting, and the Orlando Sentinel barely mentioned UM football in 1979. And Orlando is just up the Turnpike and the Orlando and Fort Lauderdale papers are owned by the same media company.

What I don't like about DBC is his toxic mixture of mental retardation and arrogance. He literally talks down to everyone as if he is some sort of expert. Look at him, as he corrects us rubes about how we should not cut off the "State of Miami" at Tampa, but extend it to Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater)! ONE EXTRA COUNTY. Never mind that the Tampa metro area ("Tampa Bay") has ALWAYS included Pinellas County. No sir, Dannyboycane is ten times smarter than all the rest of us lifelong Florida residents who don't know ****e about our state's geography.

I realize that DBC has watched The U over and over again. I get it. He can regurgitate stuff that Billy filmed like nobody's business.

But his command of the facts? Give me a break. He first claimed that Miami went 8-3 in 1978, though he "do wanna stand corrected on one thing" when he Googles the fact that we went 6-5 that year. But what is worse is that he somehow attributes Ottis Anderson to the recruiting of Lou Saban. However, Saban was hired by Miami in December 1976. Ottis enrolled at Miami in August 1975.

Look, I could fact-check DBC all-day and all-night, but the reality is that he is a fraudulent "expert". He misstates a lot of incorrect facts WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY. And that is dangerous.

DBC even tried to claim that Howard Schnellenberger was part of The Junction Boys, which was Bear Bryant's first Texas A&M team in 1954. Let's check the tape...oh, yeah, Bear coached at aTm from 1954-1957 and moved to Alabama in 1958. Howard Schnellenberger? Oh, he PLAYED at Kentucky (and in the CFL) during that time, THEN coached at Kentucky from 1959-1960, before FINALLY joining Bear at Alabama in 1961. But should we be OK with DBC's constant misstatements of facts because he says "if I recall correctly"?

For the love of God, can we just admit what DBC is? He's a guy who has watched a ton of TV. And read a bunch of websites. He hasn't lived with 40 years of being a Miami fan. He hasn't experienced all the ups and downs of UM sports as a student or an alum. He's certainly no expert, he's just a guy who repeats things he's seen before, but with an authoritative-SOUNDING voice.

Oh, and for the record (because everyone misstated this fact, including DBC)...Melvin Bratton was injured THE NEXT YEAR in the Orange Bowl game against Oklahoma (January 1988). In fact, Melvin Bratton SCORED MIAMI'S FIRST TOUCHDOWN in the 1987 Fiasco Bowl against Ped State. So, yeah, if we stopped letting Testaverde throw and handed the ball to Highsmith AND BRATTON, we probably win the game (accurate). But Bratton was fine and uninjured for that 1987 bowl game.

Completely correct.

I don't understand DBC's lack of logic in advocating for Greentree to be renamed for Howard, yet the statue to be placed at Dolphins Stadium.

But, hey, it makes as much sense as calling Howard Schnellenberger one of The Junction Boys.

RIP Coach Schellenberger. He's the one that got everything going and put us on the map.

Re; DBC - Some of the previous posts bring back so many funny memories of the DBC posts,
like the bear looking in DBC's basement window as he did a pod cast, or his affair with
Heather Denish of ESPN, etc.
