Alex Collins: This will ultimately come down to sanctions. If the Miami staff is able to convince him that they won’t be “too” bad, then I expect him to be a ‘Cane. The playing time factor is in Miami’s favor theoretically, but Collins truly isn’t afraid of competition so we will see how big of a factor that will be. Something that helps Miami’s chances is the fact that his main recruiter at FSU, Eddie Gran, left to Cincinnati. Overall, things look a lot better here than they did last month. It’s just tough to get a great read on him.

In a move that had been in the works for over a month, longtime Miami commitment Angelo Jean-Louis committed to Marshall on Tuesday. The Miami staff hadn’t expected AJL to qualify, but it’s just unfortunate that he couldn’t handle his business in Prep school because he is supremely talented.
Stacy Coley: This is a situation that has become very interesting down the stretch. Not surprisingly, Miami ratcheted up their attention on Coley once it became more apparent that Jean-Louis wouldn’t be able to make it in. Coley’s visit was highly successful a few weeks ago and his head coach is working in Miami’s favor. A twist here that could hurt the ‘Canes is that FSU recently offered Coley’s close friend, Eddie Jackson. A source close to both Coley and Jackson told me that Coley was “ready to commit to Miami” before Jackson’s FSU offer came. FSU and Miami will fight until the end for Coley.

This could be legitimately the first big-time kid that I would be stunned and surprised that Miami pulled under Al Golden. Some would point out Tracy Howard and Tyriq McCord from last year, but those are State of Miami kids that he “should” be getting. Sandland is an elite cross-country prospect, which is nearly impossible to pull in the face of sanctions. He had an incredible time on his visit a couple weeks ago, the staff has made him an absolute priority, and a certain someone who could be throwing him the ball next year feels like he will pick Miami. Devante Bond is also working him hard.

Would be surprised if he doesn’t pick Miami.

Keith Bryant (commit): I feel better on Bryant than I did two weeks ago. One thing I know about Keith is that Miami really is his “dream school” as these kids say. It is the school he has loved since the beginning. Much like Collins, if the staff can convince him that sanctions won’t be a program killer, then I think he will be a ‘Cane. Based on a couple things he told me this week, I feel good about Miami’s chances right now. It will be interesting to see if the staff can get him to OV, even though he has said he won’t use one to Miami since he’s been here so man times.
