Former Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. is already putting on a show with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Buccaneers outside Linebackers coach Larry Foote spoke with the media on Wednesday afternoon; he spoke highly on Rueben Bain calling him unblockable, also stating that Bain is all about the game of football.
"This guy's gonna be a star in the league even before he arrives. Off the film, if you had to bet, he's gonna be a star. He's just the way he plays the game, he's explosive, plays with great leverage, and it's hard to block those type of guys. Back in my Pittsburgh days, playing with a guy James Harrison like that, it was just couldn't block him. And he has that trait, he has that ability. I'm more impressed with his mindset. And I kinda got a little feel for that when we interviewed him at the combine, but these last few weeks, he has that Levante David focus, that area down there in Miami. Them guys are just, it's Jesus 1A and football 1B. And them guys love ball. Even when it's break time, he ain't pulling his phone out like the rest of them. He all about ball. So I'm excited to have him," stated Foote.
Foote also expressed highly on what he saw on Bain's film before he arrived with the Buccaneers:
"He knew everything on the tape. He knew everybody's responsibility, and he was just above than that guy. And told you what the linebacker had, that the guys on the inside, he knew the coverage, he remembered the plays, got that hot depth, you know, just, it's very impressive. As soon as he left, everybody stood up and just shook their heads," said Foote.
Buccaneers defensive tackle coach A'Shawn Robinson also chimed in on the Rueben Bain talk: “He’s a killer, He’s a killer. Don’t get it misconstrued, he is like that."
This past season with the Hurricanes, Bain was one of the most feared defensive linemen in the country. Bain uses many special techniques and tools to get to the quarterback, which means his elite pass rushing skills are showing up in Tampa. He is very powerful off the snap of the ball, he knows how to use his violet hands, and is a tone setter for the Buccaneers defensive line group.
